How many typos do you make in a day? When we're busy, we can type away without thinking, and that leads to a ton of spelling mistakes because we're in a rush. Threat actors will set up fraudulent lookalikes to websites like Walmart, Redbubble and really any site where they want to capture your log-in or other, even more sensitive data. They use common misspellings of the website, like switching two letters, or forgetting a character, so that typos redirect there. Check to make sure that the website you're trying to access starts with HTTPS:// or has a padlock icon beside the URL, to verify that it's a secure website, and double-check that the URL matches. You can also bookmark your favorite sites and set up web filters to block unsafe ones! #TypoTroubles #SpellingMistakes #CyberSecurityTips #WebsiteSecurity #SecureBrowsing #OnlineSafety #CyberAwareness #PhishingPrevention #SafeBrowsing #DigitalSecurity #AnyWayTech #LeadingtheCommunITy

🚩Red Flag Friday🚩 Watch out for this red flag when shopping this holiday season. Look-alike websites. We've all made typos before when entering website addresses. Usually a typo will take you to a page that doesn't exist, but recently cybercriminals have been taking advantage of these "typos" and have created website look-alike pages. They can create a scam website that mirrors the appearance and feel of a standard retailer's site, but are often loaded with errors like typos, suspicious URL's, or incorrect information. Always double check when typing in a website, and if anything looks suspicious, don't proceed! Member FDIC.

Beware of Sophisticated E-Commerce Scams: A Personal Encounter #malware #scam #ecommerce #verifydomainname Recently, I almost fell victim to a highly sophisticated e-commerce scam detailed on MalwareTips. The scam involved a fake online shop, "OnlineObey.shop," which appeared to sell legitimate brand products at discounted prices. The scammers had managed to create a convincing replica of the original brand's site by scraping product arrays and presenting them on their fraudulent platform. Unsuspecting customers, lured by the attractive prices, would pay for their purchases but receive nothing in return. This experience was a stark reminder of the importance of vigilance in online shopping. One key takeaway to protect oneself is to meticulously verify the URLs of websites against the Legitimate Domain Names and company details of the brands. Such scams not only lead to financial loss but also risk personal data being compromised. For those interested in understanding how these scams operate and learning tips to avoid them, I highly recommend reading the insightful analysis at [MalwareTips](https://lnkd.in/eFJtVEfH). Stay safe and informed!
