A Journey of Transformation: From Tragedy to Advocacy In the blink of an eye, life can change. I know this all too well. In 2012, a moment of distraction—a text message about a cellphone bill—led to a devastating crash. I was doing 70 mph, no seatbelt, window down, and my attention on my phone. The consequences were immediate and severe: two people injured, six weeks in the hospital for me, and a painful lesson learned. But from the wreckage emerged a resolve to prevent others from experiencing such trauma. I founded Mindfully Aware Driving Solutions LLC, dedicating my life to promoting safe driving practices. It’s not just a company; it’s a movement fueled by personal experience and the desire to make our roads safer for everyone. Recently, I meet Rogerio Nersissian LATAM HSSE Manager from #Shell Brasil Petroleo Ltda at a #NAFA networking event powered by #BrainDate. We shared our stories, our regrets, and our tears. But most importantly, we shared a commitment to change. Rogerio’s journey, much like mine, is a testament to the power of transformation and responsibility. The summit focused on enhancing safety culture and Human and Organizational Performance (HOP) in the oilfield. If I look back at my career journey of 34 years, the fast range of experience which I have gained, the great successes I have achieved, failures that brought me back to my knees, determination and commitment, that gave me strength the overcome obstacles or challenges, and rise stronger and even with a better out look in life.
