At this mornings Bright Spot Breakfast Club with Rob Woods Rebecca Shackell (Heppell) we talked through some key activities and learnings from the last four years at Alzheimer's Research UK, showing how we achieved corporate partnerships growth and success by doing things differently. Here are some of the take-outs; 🎯 Charity Benchmarks - gave us a robust truth point to how we faired against other teams in other charities. Providing a clear view of what needed improvement. The 2023 report is just out from Open https://lnkd.in/eBux-nMq 🔍  FBI - working with Above+Beyond on the Corporate team playbook gave us a fresh approach and brand language to being 'wave makers' as well the Fit, Benefit and Impact approach to partnership. It if doesn't fit the framework then don't waste everyone's time. The results speak volumes. 🌟 Purpose & Focus - It all begins with knowing your goals and where to focus your time and energy to achieve them. Until I was 30, I never imagined working in a business. I thought businesses were bad and charities were good. I thought I wasn’t the "type of person" who could start a business because I didn't find money interesting. I just wanted to help not-for-profits and starting an agency seemed like the best way to do it. 12 years later ntegrity is B Corp certified and Kyle and I are attending our first B Lab Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand conference. Our team has helped charities raise millions to enact positive change, and we give generously to charities every single year. We’ve needed to be a business to achieve our mission. Many of the things we do for our clients, others have not done before. We’ve had to operate as a business to grow the way we wanted and take risks the way we needed. Becoming a B Corp was a natural step for us and it's provided structure and accountability, guiding our journey as we navigate the challenges of scaling while staying true to our mission. What I learned today from Carl Rhodes is that while helping the NFP sector grow is important, there are hygiene factors of running a business that may seem insignificant but are fundamental to a strong democracy. Be proud that you pay your taxes (corporate tax avoidance is rife) Be proud to provide stable and fairly paid employment (precarious employment is growing) Be proud to provide goods and services of value Be proud that you are part of innovation, it moves countries forward.
