Trying hard to be a good person Campaigning on topics that matter to me Posting about the peculiarities of life
One of the many benefits of not working full time is that I get to chose what to support, how to support and how much of my time they get. Promoting a vegan lifestyle is high up on my list - probably joint with raising awareness on Diabetes impact. #veganism #veganlifestyle #volunteeringmatters
Do you want to take part in vegan volunteering around your local area? We've opened up that opportunity here at The Vegan Society! We have an ever-growing Community Network of vegans just like you, who have a passion to volunteer and promote veganism where they live. Every month, our Network choose from a range of outreach tasks. 💡 A volunteer’s gains 💡 This weekend, I had the privilege of participating in an incredible community event supported by Beyond Social Services. Themed "Healthy You & Me”, the ground-up event is aimed at tackling rising food costs and improving access to healthy diet choices for vulnerable families. The highlight? 👩🍳 A cooking competition. The key ingredients? Instant noodles and a generous amount of community spirit! Outcome? Healthy meals can be created by adding a bit of “this and that”! 🍜 🥒 🥚 The event wasn’t just about the cooking competition. My learnings 💡 ? 🥳. Opportunity X Courage X Hope: 5 ladies courageously stepped out of their comfort zone to show their craft to familiar and strange faces. Feeling stressed before and during the competition, all now have an experience to be on-stage and speaking in public. 🤹♀️ 💃 🔔 I am inspired by their courage. Overcoming a challenge regardless of scale always add to our life experiences for our next opportunities. 🥳 Community kinship: residents stepped out of their rental flats to support neighbours. S17 Community Kitchen (https://lnkd.in/gg6qHeeZ) opened their space to support the event and corporate entities such as Ninja Shark sponsored home appliance as prizes (aptly fit the theme). Young and young-at-heart volunteers assumed various roles came together and be ignited by the energy of the community leaders and youth emcees. It brought laughter, relaxation and warmth for those who were present. 😍 🔔 I am inspired by organizers' creative programming. It met the needs of the beneficiaries where they are. Free buffet offered a kampung eating feast. Through educational quizzes, audience learned important facts & trends and could choose their choice of food ingredients from the contestant’s food inventory. Minimise food wastage! It is a lifelong journey for me to role model after many kindred & passionate individuals. How can we contribute to the growth and well-being of ourselves and others? Whether big or small, every action counts. Together, we can make a difference. 🌱 #HealthYouAndMe #CommunityWellbeing #FoodSecurity #HealthyChoices #CollectiveWisdom #LocalHeroes #CommunityEngagement #ShareYourRecipes #TogetherWeCan

🥙 🤼 Making a Difference with Everybody Eats! Something close to my heart is giving back & when I find opportunities to do so with the added benefit of a greener outcome, I am keen to get involved. This week our Custom Crew at Custom Fleet had the privilege of volunteering with Everybody Eats, a pay-as-you-feel dining concept for everyone. We worked both in the front and back of house service teams supporting the evenings food service. We left feeling inspired by their mission of 'Feeding Bellies not Bins' and all in all couldn't have gotten more out of the experience, to the customers, fellow volunteers and Everybody Eats team - thanks! If you’re looking for ways to get involved or support a great cause, I highly recommend checking out Everybody Eats and seeing how you can contribute to their mission. Everybody Eats is focused on tackling three main problems: 1- Too much food - Humans waste around one-third of the food we produce. 1.3 Billion tonnes of perfectly good food, worth over One Trillion dollars. 2 - Not enough food - At the same time over one billion people are going hungry. Recent studies show that in New Zealand 1 in 6 people don't have enough to eat. 3 - Disconnected - Communities are increasingly fragmented. We don't know our neighbours anymore. Social Isolation is a significant and growing problem. Tania Hammond Adam Peters Nadine Martin #Volunteering #CustomFleet #CommunitySupport #GreenImpact #EverybodyEats #CustomCares

🇧🇷🇺🇸🇩🇪 | From Sustainability to Regeneration: Nourishing ecosystems by cultivating innovation, culture, and multi-actor networks for a regenerative economy. | Gamifying Systems Innovation
🤜🤛How does focusing on conviviality rather than just functions and roles transform communities? On episode 5 of RegenBeings, I got the chance to unravel the ingredients to successful regenerative community projects with Christiane Lellig. Surprisingly, one of the most strategic methods is also one of the most fun: bringing people together through food and good times. Key Insights: 🍽️The Power of Gathering: The role of communal meals in creating a space for open dialogue and building connections. Regenesis Institute for Regenerative Practice shows that shared experiences around food are more than just enjoyable—they're pivotal in community engagement. ⏳Building Trust: Christiane Lellig emphasizes that trust is the foundation of any community work. It's a slow process, demanding authenticity, honesty, and transparency. The speed of change is directly proportional to the speed of trust-building. 🧭Navigating Community Dynamics: Every community has its unique challenges, from unseen boundaries to internal rifts. She highlights the importance of understanding these subtleties to effectively engage and unite diverse groups. 🥖 Fresh from the oven! 🍞 In the heart of Fredericton, something wholesome is rising, and it's not just sourdough! Greener Village is cooking up a heartwarming program where folks can learn to bake bread while making a difference in their community. 💡 Here's why this kneads your attention: - Baking is more than a skill—it's an art form that brings people together and now, it gives back too. - This blend of culinary teaching and community service is a novel approach to fostering social bonds and nourishing both bodies and souls. - We're witnessing the mixture of tradition and charity work to create a community-focused recipe for positive change. 👨🍳 If this initiative proves successful, I predict it could rise to the occasion and become a model for community engagement far beyond Fredericton: - Encouraging self-sufficiency while addressing food security. - Inspiring similar programs elsewhere, baking a worldwide batch of generosity. 💭 Let's reflect on what this could mean – a movement stirred together with the yeast of good will and the flour of community support. Imagine that waft of freshly-baked bread bringing communities together, loaf by loaf. 📈 This rolls out vast potential for both personal and communal growth. And isn't that just the kind of news we could all use a slice of these days? #CommunitySpirit #BakingADifference #GreenerVillage #FrederictonFinds #CulinaryCommunity #BreadForChange 💼 Fancy a chat about how simple ideas can create impactful waves in the community? 🐾 Paw-sitive Huts: Where Compassion Meets Creativity! 🏠 We’ve got something pawsitively heartwarming to share with you! 🐶🏡 At Success Tea Consultants, we recently hosted our brand-new CSR activity: Paw-sitive Huts. 🌿🛠️ Imagine a room filled with laughter, teamwork, and the sweet scent of freshly cut wood. 🌲✨ What’s Paw-sitive Huts, you ask? 🤔 Well, it’s not your typical team-building exercise. Nope! We’re not balancing on ropes or solving complex puzzles (although those are fun too!). Instead, we’re rolling up our sleeves, grabbing our pliers, and creating cozy huts and kennels for our furry friends. 🐾🏠 🌟 The Nitty-Gritty Details: 🌟 * Big 4, Big Hearts: Our recent event brought together 270 participants from a renowned Big 4 consultancy. They weren’t just colleagues; they became carpenters, architects, and dog-loving superheroes! 🦸♂️🦸♀️ * 21 Huts, 1 Big Mission: Together, they assembled 21 adorable huts using sustainable materials. These huts aren’t just shelters; they’re havens of warmth and love for our four-legged pals. 🐕❤️ * From Workshop to Wagging Tails: But here’s the best part: these Paw-sitive Huts found their forever homes! We donated them to an NGO dedicated to uplifting stray dogs. 🌟🐾 🌿 Why Paw-sitive Huts Matter: 🌿 * Fur-tastic Team Bonding: Forget trust falls; try hammering nails side by side! Our participants discovered that teamwork isn’t just about spreadsheets; it’s about building something meaningful together. 🙌 * Sustainability Wins: By using eco-friendly materials, we’re not just helping our furry friends; we’re also giving Mother Earth a high-five. 🌎✨ * Wagging Tails, Happy Hearts: The joy in those wagging tails? Priceless. These huts provide safety, warmth, and a sense of belonging. 🏠❤️ So, next time you’re planning a team-building activity, consider Paw-sitive Huts. It’s more than just wood and nails; it’s a chance to make tails wag and hearts smile. 🐶🌟 Tag your team, share the love, and let’s build a world where every wag matters! 🐾❤️ #Pawsitivity #TeamBuildingMagic #DogLoversUnite Note: No actual dogs were involved in the building process. Safety first! 🐾🔨
