On this day of remembrance, our nation honors the lives lost in the tragic events of 9/11. We pause to remember the victims, the heroes, and the countless individuals who faced unimaginable challenges with extraordinary courage. We reflect on the unity, resilience, and leadership that emerged in the aftermath, guiding us through a time of deep sorrow and uncertainty. As I reflect, I find myself drawing profound lessons from that time: ➟ 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐧 𝐃𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲: The power of coming together, regardless of our differences, is what sustains us in the most difficult moments. ➟ 𝐄𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐭𝐡𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭: Compassion and understanding of the human side of every challenge are what truly connect us and strengthen our communities. ➟ 𝐈𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭𝐟𝐮𝐥 𝐋𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐡𝐢𝐩: During times of adversity, true leadership is defined by integrity, compassion, and decisive action. Today in history, September 11, 2001, the world witnessed one of the most harrowing tragedies in modern history. The attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, followed by the crash of United Airlines Flight 93, not only resulted in immense loss of life but also profoundly altered how the world interacts. Grief and sorrow extended across the nations as people wondered what happened and why. I remember sitting in the front desk of our college's dormitory for work when I heard the new. For days I thought about the loss many experienced and what that would mean for all of us in the years to come. And now I find hope in Revelation 7, which offers a vision of ultimate redemption and peace. This passage speaks of a multitude from every nation, tribe, and language standing before the throne of God, united in worship and freed from suffering. For believers in Christ, this vision promises a future where God will wipe away every tear, and there will be no more pain or death. It represents a powerful counterpoint to the tragedies of the present and past, affirming that despite the trials of life, there is a divine promise of restoration and eternal joy. No matter the suffering experienced in this world, there is a hopeful and glorious future awaiting those who hold fast to their faith. As we reflect on what happened this day in 2001, let's find hope in Revelation 7.

We remember all who gave all for this nation. Four score and seven years ago our fathers brought forth on this continent, a new nation, conceived in Liberty, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created equal. Now we are engaged in a great civil war, testing whether that nation, or any nation so conceived and so dedicated, can long endure. We are met on a great battle field of that war. We have come to dedicate a portion of that field, as a final resting place for those who here gave their lives that that nation might live. It is altogether fitting and proper that we should do this. But, in a larger sense, we can not dedicate—we can not consecrate—we can not hallow—this ground. The brave men, living and dead, who struggled here, have consecrated it, far above our poor power to add or detract. The world will little note, nor long remember what we say here, but it can never forget what they did here. It is for us the living, rather, to be dedicated here to the unfinished work which they who fought here have thus far so nobly advanced. It is rather for us to be here dedicated to the great task remaining before us—that from these honored dead we take increased devotion to that cause for which they gave the last full measure of devotion—that we here highly resolve that these dead shall not have died in vain—that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom—and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.
