Tomorrow is the University of Arkansas ­- Sam M. Walton College of Business Career Fair that will provide an opportunity for our students to connect with over 180 employers. Students, this is an opportunity for you to directly connect with companies who are looking to hire you so please take advantage of this opportunity while you can. Here are a few tips to prepare: 1. Study up on the companies you are most interested in working for prior to attending the Career Fair, learn about their brands, read their press releases and new innovations and be prepared to discuss those. 2. Yesterday I attended a local job fair and today I attended a virtual job fair hosted by HiConselor. I received alot of good information about what should be in your resume and how it should look. Nowadays most companies use some form of ATS to review your resume to make sure you have what they are looking for. I discovered this article on the internet that explains how the ATS works and how to make your resume ATS friendly. I also learned that most companies are now wanting you to get some experience which is hard to do, unless you can land an internship. HiCounselor told us that starting Monday you could go to their website and select the projects tab and you can work on any of the projects for free. This will help you get some experience that could help you land a job. I think this is an awsome way to help those of us who have no experience get the experience we need.
