We'll be in attendance, and also presenting. Paul Slater, Grace Brown and Louis McCulloch will present their paper on semi-automated identification and dimensioning of seabed boulders, and I'll present on mapping risk to offshore wind farm cables in 3 dimensions. We've focussed a good chunk of development time over the past 2-3 years addressing both of these industry hot topics, and we've hopefully got some useful insights to share. Hope to see some of you there! #geography #gis #gmgeo #geospatial #cbra #geoscience #offshorewind #renewables #geophysics Global Maritime

One of my personal joys in #research is exploring/communicating people's voices and prespectives as they are, wherever they are and however they see befitting. One of my personal ambitions as well, is to be able to do so for the people from my region. Just like multiple other great civilizations, the Middle East had its golden age of pioneering in arts, science and discoveries since ancient times where a lot of knowledge we use today is built on its foundations. e.g. Handbook for Travelers in Syria and Palestine-1868, al-Khwārizmī ,Omar Khayyam,Ibn al-Haytham, Abu Bakr al-Razi & many more In modern times ,however, as per this article, we are roughly around 22% of research productivity in comparison to the global north. As an Egyptian, I know for sure, that this part of the world is hustling with the brightest of minds, and as a physician, I know it is as well with the brightest of doctors who might be currently constructing a new surgical procedure in the theatre without knowing that it is a breakthrough worth documenting! I hope there will come a day where everyone in the world equally have a chance to communicate and propagate knowledge so that constructive dialogues could be facilitated and we reach a level of understanding and mutual respect to one another. #TheMiddleEast #ResearchProductivity

Last week has been a very productive one. On top of work, we managed to finalize and submit our latest research article on the intersection of R&D and science policies in the UAE. This is a shout out to my co-author Reem Jamil Younis. Her grasp of the R&D landscape had a significantly positive impact on the paper.
