As Black History Month draws to a close, I find myself reflecting on the profound impact it has had on our collective consciousness. This month serves as a poignant reminder of the resilience, strength, and immeasurable contributions of Black individuals throughout history. It's a time to honor the trailblazers who fought tirelessly for justice, equality, and freedom in the face of adversity and oppression. From activists and artists to scientists and leaders, their legacies continue to inspire generations, reshaping the narrative of our shared history and shaping a more inclusive future. As we bid farewell to Black History Month, let us carry forward the spirit of recognition, appreciation, and celebration beyond the confines of these 29 days (shoutout to leap year). Let us commit ourselves to ongoing education, empathy, and allyship in the fight against systemic racism and injustice. May we amplify Black voices, support Black-owned businesses, and champion diversity and inclusion in all aspects of our lives. By acknowledging the past, we honor the present, and pave the way for a brighter, more equitable tomorrow for all.

Should we care about Black History Month? Understanding and appreciating the history and culture of different communities creates allyship. This allyship creates a culture of people who consciously and actively value others. We all want to be valued, especially in the organisations that we work in. We also recognise that many organisations either start focusing on Black History Month too late or avoid, overlook, or forget to celebrate it due to a lack of awareness, competing priorities, limited resources, lack of diverse leadership, or cultural inertia. To help organisations address this we have created our Black History edition of Equally Yours, our innovative learning experience that combines playfulness and conversation, inclusive for all people. The session will educate staff about the history, struggles, and contributions of Black individuals and pioneers which in turn will enhance cultural awareness and sensitivity. This month serves as an opportunity to recognize and celebrate the stories of triumph over adversity that have become an integral part of our collective heritage.   Resilience isn't just a quality; it's a force that propels individuals, communities, and organizations forward. It is the unwavering commitment to progress despite challenges, and the Black community's resilience has left an indelible mark on our shared journey. As we celebrate Black History Month, let's amplify these stories of resilience and acknowledge the positive impact they have on our collective understanding of strength and perseverance.   I encourage each of you to engage in conversations, both within your organization and beyond, that amplify the importance of resilience and celebrate the diversity that makes us stronger.
