In this space, we recognize that not everyone can be a foster parent. But we like to challenge this mindset a bit. While you may not be able to be a foster parent, you are likely able to support the ones who are. In a space where there are so many moving parts and so many gaps that could be filled, it's true that everyone can do something. A few ideas of what YOUR something could be: *Saturday laundry pick up-- Text a local foster fam and tell them to have their laundry on the porch this Saturday morning. Pick it up, spray, wash, dry, fold, and drop it off by Sunday night! *Offer your craft/goods- Are you a photographer? Partner with your local foster care org to offer Fall portraits this year! Sell products? Challenge everyone who buys something from you next month to buy an extra item and donate it to your local org's care closet! *Clean out your clutter- Yard sale season is here! If you haven't started Spring cleaning, save it for Summer and host a yard sale! Clean out your clutter while raising money for foster care! Donate the money to a foster care org or buy a local foster family passes to your town's water park! *Become a member of Foster the Family's Community of Care Program! This month, we launched a new monthly donor program and YOU are invited to join us! Sign up and give today at this link: https://lnkd.in/gaihv8TN... (PS- If you tried giving at our Zeffy link last week and it didn't work, we are so sorry! We have fixed the hiccup and it is now live!) Have more ideas on how YOU can support foster families? Congratulations to our wonderful #firsttimehomesellers who sold their first home to a wonderful #firsttimehomebuyer couple! Our clients purchased this home in October of 2020 and, when life threw a few curve balls (as it does!) they discovered it was time to sell early this year. We were able to sell this adorable home for 27.5% more than what the they had purchased it for!! Thats a GREAT way to start a homeownership journey! If you're someone who wonders when the right time to buy a house is- the answer will always be RIGHT NOW. Don't worry about the month or the weather or the season or the interest rate...the year over year equity our local real estate market gives you...historically ALWAYS calculates the answer of "RIGHT NOW" is the right time! At the closing of each transaction I give my clients the opportunity to donate a portion of my commission to a cause of their choosing. Within the story of each closing is a ripple of love and hope reaching far beyond a single home. Haven Clothing Company in Denver is the charity we will be donating to with this deal. "Haven exists to support foster families by ensuring children in foster care feel loved and encouraging the retention of foster parents. The Haven team delivers a care package to foster families and children that includes new clothing, shoes, hygiene supplies, and comfort items for newly placed children in foster or kinship care, as well as a meal for the entire family." 👏 Relationships are essential.👏 Tangible things - backpacks, shoes, Christmas presents - those are important, but relationships for kids and caregivers in the foster care community are essential. 💫 A well-supported foster home means they don't get overwhelmed as easily and that their home stays open longer. If caregivers keep their homes open to kids in need, kids on the Olympic Peninsula stay IN THEIR COMMUNITY. Relationships mean kids in care feel seen, important, and loved. They learn to trust and regulate themselves. Relationships - volunteers who give their time, heart, and connections to the foster care community - are how we change the way foster care is experienced. Can you give your time to make life better for the foster care community and change outcomes for generations to come? If you don't have capacity, can you donate? Get involved today - anyone can make life better for a child in care: olympicangels.org #foster #fostercare #relationships #trama #TBRI #traumainformed #volunteer #mentor #lovebox #daretodream #relationalpermanency #relationalpermanence #stability #consistency #donate #nonprofit #community #fostercarecommunity #fostercarenonprofit #olympicangels #nationalangels #olympicpeninsula #selfregulation #regulation #coregulation #trust

How do you raise a foster child combined with a biological family? The same way you would with more biological children. There are growing pains but overall, you are teaching them how to exist in this world to the best of their ability and how to be successful in what they want to accomplish. You are giving them a loving family for however long they are with you. A stable place to grow and learn together. You are allowing opportunities for them to redefine normal. This allows them to start breaking generational cycles of experiencing foster care. While there are technical differences, like maybe the state or bio parents or the GAL gets to have a say in what happens to your kids who are in foster care, they shouldn't be able to tell that they are situationally different by how you or your inner circle treats them. They should be able to see that even when they get to be reunified with their family, there will always be a seat at the table for them. Here we are at Fall Creek Falls State Park together having an amazing time! #fostercare #adoption #nonprofit #donate #giveback #loveup #fosteryouth #children #fosterkids #parenting #love #fosterparents #fostermom #getinvolved #purpose #fosterstatistics #fostering #agingout #fostergraduates #bible #godsword #jesus #christianbookkeeper #christian #fosterlove #fosterfamilies #fostercarestories #fostercaremonth

We often post statistics about young adults who age out of foster care, but today we wanted to share a personal story from a young adult in our program. “I’m a fellow foster child who has dealt with the system my whole life but one of the hardest parts was definitely after I aged out, growing up with no one to teach me the things I would need to know when I’m set free in the world, I can’t change a tire, I had no idea how hard it would be to set up my bank account, or even figure out how I can get my social because it was lost somewhere between moving around while younger.” This story is definitely not unique, and it’s a window into the challenges former foster youth face. Having a community that helps them fill in these gaps, “catch up” on the things they missed, is a key part of their success as adults, and it’s why we’re working on growing our life skills/culinary program. Want to help us meet this need? Consider a sponsorship or donation to the Bates Mission Carnival and Car Show, our biggest fundraiser for 2024. Former foster youth need the community’s help, and your support helps Bates Mission provide it. 🤝 https://lnkd.in/gX-MHQT4 #BatesMission #SupportingFormerFosterYouth #Nonprofit #Leander #Austin #RoundRock #CedarPark #Texas #CentralTexas #FosterCare #FosterYouth

"The support that Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation has shown me during my college career has allowed me to set my goals higher than I ever could have imagined." - Arena, AFFCF Scholar Three percent. That's it. Just three percent of youth with foster care backgrounds will earn a post-secondary degree, compared to the 66% of the general population of their peers. The reasons for not completing their degree vary - an emergency popped up, they had a bad semester, they were on the brink of being homeless... AFFCF's Post-Secondary programs provide more than just funds for tuition and fees; they also help with unexpected life emergencies that can prevent students from completing their college education. Because having been in foster care shouldn't mean you can't reach your goals. You can make a real impact for post-secondary students with foster care backgrounds and get rewarded for your good deed! Because AFFCF is a Qualifying Foster Care Organization (#10023), your donation qualifies for a credit on your AZ state taxes, up to $1,051. And...you can donate today and still count it for the 2023 tax year! Donate today at affcf.org/give! #AFFCF40thAnniversary #40yearsofimpact #40yearsofchangingstories #fostercare #postsecondaryprograms #AFFCF #azffcf #celebratewithus #40for40 #youwinkidswin

😃Help us get kickstarted! ALL OF FEBRUARY we’re trying to raise AT LEAST 20k to get kick started. You can give there! Big or small, every dollar counts! Here’s what we’re trying to get started with… >> Getting resources to our young adults who have aged out. Food, hygiene products, basic household needs, furniture, gas cards etc… >> Resources to foster families as needed. >> The Crown Project… access hair care/ braids/protective styles for the black community in foster care and young adults who have aged out (52% of our kids in foster care in our kick off county are African American, more needs to be done for people of color who have specific needs). Also providing things like bonnets for kids in foster care. >> Assistance with senior year things that are not covered by DCS... Like being able to get hair, nails and make up done for prom. >> Provide new shoes and clothes as needed. These are just a few things that we’re aiming to get kickstarted this year! Our ultimate goal is to have a building that’s serving as a place of help and community for kids, and young adults who are or have experienced the foster system, and the families and case workers who support them. Then we want to see this happen countrywide. We’ve got big dreams!!!! We can’t wait to see them happen!!! These look like big goals for just us. But we know that as a community, if we all jump in, we can make this happen EASILY! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 https://lnkd.in/ePNy6zAK #nonprofit #nashvillenonprofit #charity #nashvillecharity #fostercare #nashvillefostercare

A survey sent to all foster parents in MN revealed only 17% reported they felt supported by a community of other foster parents. Foster Together MN built the community for foster parents. I didn't need a survey to know that less than at least 17% of new salesforce admins feel that the community fails to provide them real experience before entering the profession. Making "Experience" happen became my personal challenge this year. In 2024, seven salesforce professionals began implementation on a brand new Salesforce org for Foster Together. Last night, we completed our first sprint. The first demo, of many, and the first impressions from the board members crystalized our shared vision. I'm committed to removing the excuse "not enough experience" from employers' vocabulary. Thank goodness these foster parents aren't also told they can't start their family because they also "don't have enough experience". It takes a community to launch a salesforce career. It takes a community to strengthen a family. These concepts are not different. It's Ohana. Consider supporting this nonprofit as they support us. https://lnkd.in/gyVPgZ7T I'm accepting employer applications for these talented Admins and BA's. Tena Stromgren, Mariam Maurice, Jackson Day, Marlena Schutz, William Moran, and Greg Woods. This team has laid the foundation for Salesforce talent to come. Setting up full stack development, DevOps procedures, and new CRM functionality. These platforms will allow us to deliver solutions as a large "enterprise" team for a "small" nonprofit. When one gets hired, another can step in. Consider donating $17 to fight this feeling that the job market is unfair. Consider donating $17 to fight for families that feel alone. Consider donating $17 to show the world that 17% of parents feeling they belong to a community is too low.

Arizona Friends of Foster Children Foundation would like to thank our good friend, Jonel for hosting a fundraiser in support of our Keys to Success program! For three years, she has combined her passion for fashion with her dedication to help young men and women aging out of foster care achieve self-sufficiency. Each June, Jonel holds a 30 Days of Dresses Instagram campaign in which she models a new dress and shoes each day and then asks her followers to vote for their favorite by donating to AFFCF. Since she began, Jonel has raised more than $1,200! There are many ways in which you can help change the story of foster care for children and youth in Arizona! Here are just a few examples: 1. Hold a fundraiser of your own like Jonel or create a Facebook Fundraiser! 2. Volunteer your time and/or talents. 3. Designate AFFCF as the beneficiary of your Fry’s Community Rewards so every time you buy groceries, you support youth in foster care! 4. Invite us to speak at your company or small business. 5. Follow, like and share our social media posts on Facebook (AFFCF), Instagram (azffcf) and LinkedIn (AFFCF) to increase community awareness of our important work with kids in foster care. The sky’s the limit on how you can get involved and we’re happy to help! Give us a call at 602.252.9445 to learn more. #fostercare #makeadifference #changethestory #transformalife #40yearsofchangingthestory #affcf40thanniversary #childhoodactivities #keystosuccess #postsecondaryprograms #focusforwardfund #AFFCF #azffcf #youwinkidswin

Providing churches and nonprofits with legal solutions that maximize their societal impact.
3moThere are so many ways to support foster kids that don't involve becoming a foster parent yourself. I've read that 50% of foster parents quit within the first year. Little actions like these examples can help reduce the burnout and maintain consistency for these kids and families.
