Advice to new Pepperdine grads: Creatively and intentionally develop purpose, service, and leadership in your work. It's possible to be a self-centered worker in the nonprofit sector, just as much as it's possible to be an accountant or marketing exec living out selfless service. Don't let assumptions about your industry or seniority limit your intentional cultivation and application of core values and character. What would you add? 💙🧡 🌊

Graduates, it's that time of year again! As you embark on this next chapter of your life, I want to share some advice that has helped me tremendously: Dream big. With dreams, all things are possible. Another year of summer graduation ceremonies complete which means lots of new content captured to show the world how great our students are and how proud we are of them! 🎓 Really proud of my team Nicole Hemming Beth Apple Hannah Mount Richard Wyatt Socheata Chhea Ghazal Mottaghi Amit Saharan (and Steve who isn’t on LinkedIn!) plus a couple of honourary content team members Aaron Patel/Matthew Prestage – they all smashed it and completed the following: -Alumni stand and photo opportunity designed ✅ -Photo coverage of the full three days 📸 -Various social media trend based videos created to share in coming days and weeks 🕺 -Live social media coverage of all ceremonies and celebrations across the three days 📲 -Informal, fun and inspiring video interviews with students for use across social channels🎤 -High-quality video interviews with students about their time at Uni and their lecturers 🎥 -Glambot style red carpet content – when you see it you’ll understand why this was a non-negotiable✨ -High quality footage of students celebrating and enjoying the event for use in future videos ✅ -Names and emails captured for in-depth future interviews and possible participants of our brand campaign, The Real London 📝 And an additional shout out for everyone that worked the event, created assets, supported with surrounding work and those that came along and made them possible! A well-deserved recognition for University of California, Berkeley Associate Professor Travis J. Bristol, Ph.D. by such an illustrious organization, American Educational Research Association. Bristol explores three related research strands: (1) the role of educational policies in shaping teacher workplace experiences and retention; (2) district and school-based professional learning communities; (3) the role of race and gender in educational settings.

🎓🏆I had an amazing day last week celebrating the achievements of my eldest and youngest children, both on the same day. 📚✏️What was more amazing was they both got awarded for their effort and attitude to learning. 🎓In my daughters case it was to receive a First Class Honours degree, and her graduation was a ceremony we expected to attend. We knew she would graduate, and her efforts secured that First Class result. 🏆In my sons case this was different. We know how much effort he puts into learning, but we didn’t expect to be at an end of year awards ceremony. You might ask why? 🧠My sons effort doesn’t correlate to his results. He can put in 100% effort to get 30% of the results of his peers in some subjects. His neurodiverse brain works differently, and processes differently, and this isn’t always translated to thoughts onto paper ie assessments and exams. Ask him verbally and he can amaze you with his knowledge. 🌟To end his first year in high school with an award for his effort and attitude and to achieve this over higher results of his peers is fantastic motivation for him, and is what rewards should be based on. 👩🏻🤝👩🏼In the education environment and in working life, noticing effort and attitude, rather than just results is the key to motivation. Not everyone starts from the same level playing field, and not everyone has the same influence on end results. 👏🏼Recognition and rewards based on effort is where we can all make a difference. P.S. Yesterday, I had the privilege of discussing the next steps with recent graduates as they prepare to embark on new adventures after university. Their enthusiasm was truly inspiring! Having graduated myself just last year, I recall the mix of excitement and uncertainty that comes with this transition. Here are some tips for new graduates: ✨ Explore Opportunities: Keep an open mind to industries and roles to discover your interests. ✨ Network Wisely: Build connections with alumni and professionals on platforms like LinkedIn and through events. ✨ Continuous Learning: Embrace growth opportunities through online courses and workshops to enhance your skills continually. There is always room for improvement. ✨ Seek Guidance: Finding the right opportunity for you can be challenging so, don’t hesitate to seek career advice and support.
