Wildlife rescue and care are challenging, both mentally and physically. Wildlife carers witness suffering and sometimes, even loss. Not every rescue has a happy ending. Let’s shine a light on the role of these incredible volunteers. They pour their hearts into caring for our #wildlife. Thus, supporting their physical, mental, and emotional well-being is essential.🐾 To all the #wildlifeheroes out there, remember: taking care to give care includes looking after yourself. 💚 Explore resources for your mental health: https://ow.ly/JLYc50PUSwM #WildlifeCare #Volunteers #MentalHealthMatters

This week, the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife marked a significant milestone, planting its millionth tree as part of the Landscape Resilience Program. What began as a response to the devastating impact of the 2019/20 bushfires has progressed to become one of the biggest community projects in #Australia, regenerating flood-impacted and threatened ecological land. The Project has supported 30 community #nurseries in four states across the country, propagating 296+ diverse and native plant species and supporting over 25 threatened wildlife species, including the Koala and Southern Greater Glider. As we look towards the future, we are pleased to announce that our goal is to triple regeneration efforts by rolling out an additional 70 community nurseries and planting up to eight million #trees. We are steadfast in supporting Australia’s national reforestation goals and the global commitment to protect 30 percent of the world’s land and sea by 2030 under the Global Biodiversity Framework. Thank you to our incredible project partners One Tree Planted and L'Occitane Australia for your much-need support achieving the important goals of the Landscape Resilience Project. We also thank our fellow millionth tree planters and ongoing supporters - Anthony Lean, Secretary, NSW Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water; Ross Exton, Roxanne Arnold and Fiona Norris, Aon Charitable Foundation Pty. Ltd; Allison Parsons, AirTrunk, Brendon Neilly and the team at NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service and Tony Butteriss and the Friends of Lane Cove National Park. You can read more via Australian Geographic: https://bit.ly/4dOjwZh Our millionth tree is the Blueberry Ash (Elaeocarpus reticulatus) which attracts pollinators like bees and butterflies and provides food for birds and other animals. It is found naturally along the Eastern coast of Australia from the northern parts of Tasmania extending through to Fraser Island in Queensland. The first tree of our next eight million is the Cheese Tree (Glochidion ferdinandi) which attracts birds such as pigeons, figbirds and parrots to consume its fruit. They grow naturally across Eastern Australia, from South–Eastern New South Wales northwards to northern and inland Queensland, in rainforests and humid eucalypt forests.

Great work team FactSet Sydney! 👏
Last Thursday, a team of 16 FactSet Sydney volunteers came together for a beach clean-up of La Perouse in partnership with the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife. Not only did we contribute to the preservation of our beautiful coastline but also had the incredible experience of spotting whales in the distance! The team managed to collect a significant amount of litter and separated each piece to ensure for accurate recycling, helping to protect the local wildlife and keep our beaches pristine. In addition to the clean-up, we learned about the diverse flora and fauna native to the area, further deepening our appreciation for the environment we’re working to protect. A big thank you to everyone who joined in and made this event such a success, I feel proud to have the opportunity to both lead and participate in FactSet's CSR initiatives! Anthony H. Big thanks to the amazing team Hines for a fantastic #volunteeringday! Weeding might not sound as exciting as #plantingtrees, but it's crucial for our national parks. 🌿👏 #Weeds can take over and outcompete native plants, threatening wildlife habitats. Hines your efforts to managing weeds are helping rescue entire ecosystems at #SydneyHabourNationalPark! #Teamwork #EcosystemRescue #VolunteersAustralia

Exciting discovery alert! ✨ During a #volunteerday at #SydneyHarbourNationalPark, the team from SYSTRA uncovered a hidden gem—a "Hollidge of London" ink bottle from the 1890s! While not worth much financially, this #tinytreasure is priceless in its historical significance. Now part of the park's #heritagecollection, it will be further studied by the Conservation and Heritage Team. What a thrilling find!

The pig-nosed #turtle is among 13 added to Australia's threatened species list, highlighting the risk to 2,224 species and ecological communities. 🐢💔 With its unique features and cultural significance to First Nations, its decline is a loss to #biodiversity and Australia’s #culturalheritage. Australia must act to protect its natural and cultural treasures through #collaboration among governments, scientists, Indigenous communities and the public. Learn more: https://bit.ly/3yzspaB
