Community engagement is not a window-dressing, check the box phase. It should be mutually respectful with a duty of care- to do better, to promote community capacity and empowerment in crisis. Siloing engagement across ministries is confusing and disrespectful of the lived experiences in community. Without having meaningful, transparent, comprehensive and timely after action reporting from 2023 defeats the process of engagement for the future. Aging in place has great appeal and can be challenging and expensive. Elders who are part of a “Village” help each other with simple tasks, making it easier and more financially feasible to stay at home. Today, there are close to 250 Villages across the country.
