Taking STEM into the Outback.🔬🚜 In 2022, engineer Jameson Harvey founded Red Dirt Robotics to bring innovative STEM education to remote, rural and regional Australia, addressing the gap in STEM opportunities for rural youth. Using combined robotics, drones and 3D printers, the program works to sustain STEM initiatives in the Outback by inspiring students and equipping educators. With funding from the ABC Trailblazer program, an FRRR Heywire Youth Innovation grant and, most recently, a Backing the Future grant supported by Vincent Fairfax Family Foundation, Jameson toured QLD, delivering 64 workshops to more than 900 students and 100 teachers.
