📣 Exciting Funding Opportunities for FACE Members! We've got some fantastic news to share with you today. The City Bridge Foundation is on a mission to make a big impact, and they're starting right here with small grants that could make a huge difference for your projects. After a comprehensive five-month review, the grant-maker has not only doubled the maximum grant they'll offer but also broadened their horizons. They've expanded their support beyond environmental and senior-focused initiatives to include LGBTQ+ communities and refugees, migrants, and asylum-seekers. This means more of us can benefit from their generosity! But that's not all. The City Bridge Foundation is also doubling the income threshold for eligible organizations, allowing those with an income of up to £200,000 a year to apply for grants. And here's the icing on the cake: the maximum grant limit has been raised to a whopping £20,000 or up to 50% of an organization's income. Even better, they're accepting applications on a rolling basis, giving you flexibility and time to prepare. Successful organizations will have up to five years to utilize these funds. The foundation's motivation for these changes? They want to remove barriers to funding access for smaller organizations and ensure that funding reaches where it's needed most. They've listened to existing grant recipients, charities, voluntary organizations, and funders, and they're ready to make a positive impact in London's communities. Let's spread the word and take advantage of these exciting opportunities together! 🌈🌍🙌 #FACE #FundingOpportunities #CommunitySupport #CityBridgeFoundation #FACECommunity #Funding #PositiveImpact

Impact on Girls: Malnutrition disproportionately affects girls, often due to cultural practices that result in them receiving less food and nutrients than boys. This leads to higher rates of malnutrition among female children, impacting their growth, health, and development. Addressing this gender disparity is crucial for ensuring equal opportunities and improving the well-being of all children. Focusing on the nutritional needs of girls is essential to break the cycle of malnutrition and promote gender equality. -------------- Please donate today here https://buff.ly/3R6imxs Find out how you can make a difference: https://buff.ly/3auP9MO info@joyafrica.foundation #joyafricafoundation #givejoytoday #givejoyeveryday #charity #nonprofit #donate #love #fundraising #community #support #help #volunteer #giveback #donation #fundraiser #education #dogood #children #socialgood #givingback #donations #philanthropy #hope #makeadifference #charityevent #helpingothers #nonprofitorganization #childhoodpoverty #childreninpoverty #homelesschild #streetchildren #orphans

Trigger topic: Suicide While significant progress has been made in mental health support and suicide prevention, there remains a stigma around suicide. This can be due to a lack of understanding of the complexity of suicide, based on negative beliefs or attitudes and can lead to a person feeling embarrassed, misunderstood or even marginalised. So what can we do to help breakdown the stigma, so people can get the support they need?? Raise your voice - Talk with people who is in a place where they are ready to share their lived experience. Tackling the stigma and busting the myths around suicide is a part we can all play. Examine your thought processes and understanding - Are they right? Could you be more sensitive and non-judgmental? Your words matter - Use safe and inclusive language to avoid alienating anyone. For example, instead of using “committed suicide”, you can say, “took their own life” or “died by suicide”. When talking about my mother passing, I personally say passed away by suicide. We can help to save lives by being open, sharing our experiences and encouraging people to ask questions and welcoming that conversation. It's important to me to share my experience with others. For each conversation where I am open, honest and raw, I hopefully lift the stigma one person at a time and my hope is they go on and share the conversation. And if we can all do this one form or another, the causality effect will hopefully reduce the stigma. In the words of my colleague Angus Pringle: We can’t prevent suicide if we don’t know how to talk about suicide. So let’s talk…

Trigger word: suicide This was particularly difficult topic to discuss due to the raw painful feelings I have about this topic. However it’s important to share my lived experience to change how we talk about our feelings and help others to reach out for help. Saving lives….. Good Night Out Campaign makes nights out about fun and freedom, not fear. Public campaigns empower women and LGBTQ+ people to live safely, while their training for staff at pubs, festivals, and cultural venues helps them better respond to sexual violence in their spaces. With over 2,500 venue staff trained and 93% surveyed feeling more knowledgeable in keeping people safe, their reputation as the go to nightlife safety specialists is cemented. Training requests from venues and global brands have now tripled. The Fore’s funding will provide the capacity to expand reach and respond to growing demand, through for example, launching an e-learning platform. Boosted revenues will allow global expansion, especially in countries where support for sexual violence survivors is limited. Leading the Trans Justice Project has been such an incredible privilege. It has allowed me to connect with so many trans people, given me the opportunity to invest in trans staff members, and make a real difference for our community. The support we have received over the last year has allowed us to do ground-breaking work to build the movement for trans justice in Australia. We released the largest investigation into anti-trans hate in Australia, hosted one of the largest gatherings of trans and gender diverse campaigners ever, and helped to lead the Australian response to the flawed Cass Review - eventually resulting in it being rejected by the peak body for psychiatry in Australia! We have exciting plans for the year ahead. In the lead up to the next Federal election we will train a new generation of trans advocates, launch local action groups, and work to ensure that all our leaders support trans and gender diverse people’s right to freedom, justice, and equality. But we need your help to make these plans a reality. That’s why I am asking people to support our EOFY crowdfunder to allow our work to continue in the year ahead. Thanks to the support of a generous donor, all donations for the next 48hrs will be matched up to $5000. That means that your donation will have double the impact for this short window of time! We rely almost entirely on donations from supporters to fund our vital work so that we can remain independent, purpose-driven, and effective. However, this is challenging since trans and gender diverse people are 3x more likely to experience unemployment and homelessness than the general population. There is a huge role for allies to play here in funding this urgent work that is connected to so many other struggles for justice. I know times are tough so whatever you can contribute is greatly appreciated. Every little bit helps. If you are not in a place to donate please help boost this post so I can reach more people. 🏳️⚧️✊🌈❤️🔥 https://lnkd.in/gkADCag8

📣RELAUNCH📣 A couple of months ago I launched a fundraiser for organisations who support the Trans community. ❤️ However, when I launched the fundraiser- some had concerns. I have taken all feedback on board, spoken to people in the trans community and made some changes. 🏳️⚧️ Firstly, I’d like to apologise that feedback was necessary, I only want to support the trans community. Secondly- here are the changes we have made... One change is that the funds will go to FOUR different organisations. Another is that the funds will be dispersed evenly as they come in. Also how the funds will be handled- this will be by a third party (TBC). The organisations hopefully have names you may recognise for their outstanding work for Trans Rights, by supporting more organisations I hope to cover more relevant issues that Trans people are facing right now. The funds will be going to Global Butterflies TransActual Selfhood and Gendered Intelligence
