Personality is the success... resume is the tool

Don't hire pilots who have never been in a plane. But for almost any other position? Personality matters most. Hire good people with good attitudes. You won't regret it.

Sheryl’s article points out a need to attract, develop, and retain pilots for corporate flight departments and a concern that Low Time Pilots will be snatched up by airlines when the backlog of plane deliveries finally resumes. I would also be concerned that hiring retired airline captains is a short-term solution as they eventually age out altogether from aviation careers. For those who have corporate flight departments, what is your hiring strategy? Have you considered revamping your strategy to target Low Time Pilots and growing them to meet your future needs? What would you suggest to career transition pilots seeking corporate aviation roles that expect to reach the coveted 1500 hour mark in the coming 2-3 months? Is there a place for direct entry to corporate aviation or is the only realistic opportunity the airlines as a means of obtaining the required hours to meet corporate aviation needs?

At a certain point in a pilot's aviation career, shouldn't the questions about flight times stop? You have your ATP and several type ratings. Why are HR and admin types still asking for flight times? Shouldn't your knowledge, skills and abilities take precedence?
