Tech issues and political changes dampen markets. Politics have become strong drivers of markets in the last month, with the hung parliament in France, as well as mounting pressure on Joe Biden leading to his departure from the US presidential race are among the issues weighing on investors’ minds. Prior to that, in the aftermath of Donald Trumps attempted assassination, investors were preoccupied with what a Trump victory would mean for the rest of the world. After starting the week positively, European stocks fell on concerns about the prospect of increased trade tensions with the United States. Chinese stocks also dipped following the appointment of JD Vance, known for his tough views on China, as Trump’s vice-presidential running mate. #financialplanning #retirementplanning #retirementgoals #financialgoals

📈 Stock Take: A turbulent week for markets as politics and technology worry investors. 🔎 Wealth Check: Will paying for long-term care affect my inheritance planning? 🎞 In The Picture: Although interest rates may seem high compared to before the pandemic, historically speaking they are not unusual. 💬 The Last Word: “It has been the greatest honour of my life to serve as your President. And while it has been my intention to seek re-election, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and the country for me to stand down.” Joe Biden announced he will no longer stand for re-election in November. #marketanalysis #financialmarkets #finance #financialwellbeing

09/11/2024 Markets Morning Bid: Markets try to shake it off after US presidential debate September 11, 20246:34 AM GMT+2Updated 2 hours ago A look at the day ahead in European and global markets from Ankur Banerjee Investors broadly took the U.S. presidential debate between Donald Trump and Kamala Harris in stride where details were scarce but jabs aplenty. The spotlight though belonged to Taylor Swift, who right after the debate endorsed Harris. Asian markets were broadly lower and U.S. stock futures slipped, with the dollar on the back foot as both candidates clashed over issues such as immigration, foreign policy and healthcare, but the debate was light on specific policy details. Page 1 continue A member of the media uses phone as a screen displays the presidential debate, as Republican presidential nominee, former U.S. President Donald Trump and Democratic presidential nominee, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris attend a presidential debate hosted by ABC in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S., September 10, 2024.
