Tomorrow morning at the New York State Tourism Industry Association (NYSTIA) 250 Commemoration Summit, our Principle & Chief Creative, Thomas Mooney, will be speaking alongside Melaine Rottkamp, CDME, President & CEO of Dutchess Tourism, Inc., and William P Tatum III, Dutchess County Historian, to explore how Dutchess County made a huge impact with "Tiny George." 🍻 Launched Presidents’ Day weekend, the Commander-in-Cheers program is quite literally ‘Revolutionary’. Delivered through QR codes on coasters in taverns, tasting rooms and restaurants, a tiny hologram of George Washington appears to tell tales of Dutchess County’s role in the revolution. We are proud to have worked closely with Dutchess Tourism, the Dutchess County Historian, and tech experts, Evercoast, on this innovative augmented reality initiative that has sparked excitement and new engagement with the county’s Revolutionary War history. #tourism #newyorkstate #dutchesscounty #history

“We’re getting a lot of people wanting to avoid the Venices, Romes, Florences,” said Tom Jenkins, CEO of the European Tourism Organisation. Yet, I receive most requests for events in Italy’s famous art cities. Standing by my company’s mission and vision, I explain to potential clients the benefits of planning events sustainably in secondary destinations: 1. Preservation of iconic cities. By choosing lesser-known destinations, we help reduce the strain on over-touristed cities. This helps ensure their historical and cultural sites are preserved for future generations. 2. Economic boost for local communities. Hosting events in smaller towns or rural areas drives economic growth in those communities. It provides opportunities for local businesses to thrive and promotes regional development. 3. Unique experiences for event attendees. Offbeat destinations often offer surprising landscapes and experiences that mainstream locations cannot, leading to a more memorable and enriching experience for attendees. Exploring and investing in off-the-beaten-path locations is not just a trend but a responsible choice. Let’s lead the way in making sustainable event planning the new norm! -- What are your thoughts about overtourism in art cities? Would you be willing to plan your event somewhere off the beaten path? #EventDestinations #ResponsibleTravel #Sustainability
