Middle-aged Americans (aged 30-49) saw the largest increase, with disaffiliation rising from 23% to 34%. White evangelical Protestants experienced the sharpest decline, dropping from 23% in 2006 to 13% in 2023. The percentage of Christians of color and non-Christian religious groups has remained stable over the past decade, making up 25% and 6% of the population, respectively.
