The India A/India 1 community, often highlighted in B2C pitch decks, is also a prime target for Quick Commerce. This community, with an annual income between ₹9 Lakhs - ₹15 Lakhs, is known for its strong purchasing power, driven by a mix of better credit, higher income, an aspirational lifestyle, and a youthful demographic. In the past two years, quick commerce has boomed in India, proving its value and now poised to attract mass markets in tier-2 and other cities. We hear buzz about every new advancement in this space. Companies are focusing on faster delivery, richer product catalogs, customer value, and better AOV (Average Order Value). Meanwhile, big players in modern retail/e-commerce are eyeing these models, looking to join the growth curve. As a fan of the industry with a favorite company in the space, I’ve been pondering how these businesses can make their models even more beneficial for everyone. One idea I’ve been mulling over: Luxury Brands X Quick Commerce (Win-Win) International luxury brands like Gucci, Prada, and Apple are already well-loved in India, associated with aspiration and status. However, New brands face entry barriers like tariffs, FDI restrictions, economies of scale, import licensing, and capital intensity. But here's the thing — quick commerce could potentially bypass many of these barriers, offering a cost-effective alternative to brick-and-mortar retail. Quick commerce has increased their AOV by integrating high-value items, delivering products worth thousands within 10-15 minutes. By exploring this market further, they can create a launch platform for international brands on their apps. If you’ve been paying attention, you’d notice these companies are doing much more than delivering essentials like aata or daal. For instance, Zepto celebrated their 3rd anniversary by delivering nearly 6 Lakh gift hampers with 24+ domestic brands. Blinkit just started processing returns for fashion Category. Swiggy can use two darkstores to simultaneously process your orders (Offering better category and availability) .Quick commerce companies even delivered the iPhone 16, competing head to-head with e-commerce rivals. Their catalogs have expanded from around 2,000 SKUs to about 10,000 in just a few years. 🌏 Quick commerce thrives in India, overshadowing major e-commerce players, growing 5x faster annually. 📉 In contrast, Southeast Asia sees businesses close or change models due to operational challenges and less demand for ultra-quick deliveries. 📈 India's success attributed to broader product categories, targeting premium segments, and efficient operations. - Want full insights? “Live commerce doesn’t work in India.” “It hasn’t grown much.” I’ve heard these arguments from many investors and even founders in e-commerce. And they often compare it to China. In 2023, live commerce in China made up 19.2% of the country’s total retail e-commerce sales, reaching a staggering $695 billion. By 2026, it’s projected to exceed $1 trillion. But India is on a different journey. Our live commerce market is still young but growing rapidly. By 2025, it’s expected to generate $5 billion in GMV, a smaller share compared to China. I don’t think it’s fair to compare the two markets directly. China’s e-commerce is far more mature. They began building their live commerce infrastructure back in 2016 when Alibaba launched Taobao Live. And during COVID, live commerce there skyrocketed by nearly 200% because they had already built the foundation for it. India, on the other hand, is still about 4-5 years into this journey. We’re just getting started, but the potential is huge. At Gumlet, we work with some customers who are building in the live commerce space, and we’ve seen amazing traction in their conversion rates. What’s crucial is having solid video infrastructure—something we’re helping companies solve. So, it’s not that India lacks a live commerce story. We’re just getting started, and there’s a massive opportunity ahead. #LiveCommerce

🚀 Quick Commerce: India's UPI Moment? I recently came across a fascinating discussion where the Zepto founder highlighted something remarkable: Quick commerce, like UPI, represents India’s ability to create world-class infrastructure that improves the daily lives of millions. However, while UPI has successfully reached even the remotest parts of the country, quick commerce has largely been limited to metros and Tier 1 cities. Why is it difficult to expand to Tier 2 and smaller cities? Lower demand density: The order volumes in smaller cities often don’t justify the cost of setting up hyperlocal infrastructure. High operational costs: Quick commerce requires robust supply chains, delivery networks, and storage systems, which can be expensive to implement in less dense markets. Behavioral differences: Consumers in smaller cities may still prefer traditional shopping methods and may not see the value in paying premiums for ultra-fast delivery. The big question is: Will this ‘UPI moment’ for quick commerce remain metro-focused, or can it achieve true pan-India adoption? Have you seen quick commerce adoption in your city? Share your experiences with this evolving retail revolution. #QuickCommerce #UPI #DigitalIndia #RetailInnovation #StartupIndia https://lnkd.in/gmjbi_uk
