https://lnkd.in/gAQxcq3M A wonderfully researched scientific paper about art, science and politics of Indonesian Democracy and the current activities related to the Indonesian Presidential Election. very carefully written not over emphasizing and past or present events, always along the borders of the truth without any prejudice. I liked the whole text. My friends in Indonesia may also enjoy reading this wonderfully written research article. Luck should favour them how to bring-in a fully democracy based constitution and also how to bring-in a clear boldness to safeguard their national assets from pilferage and how to enhance their value (Value adding to their existing assets is a must and they should not leave the country without value added price while securing the revenue fully reaches back to Indonesian Public Development. I know very well it is a long road with several long tunnels. I pray for golden days for the beloved Indonesia. [Diplomatic Discussion #1: “ASEAN Centrality: Navigating Troubled Waters Through The Waves of Giants”] Dear Foreign Policy Enthusiasts, Research and Analysis Division of FPCI Chapter UI Board of 2024 proudly presents Diplomatic Discussion #1: “ASEAN Centrality: Navigating Troubled Waters Through The Waves of Giants”. A problem arises with ASEAN being in the middle of two feuding superpowers, China and the U.S, as ASEAN Centrality seems to be such an ambitious goal considering internal conflicts are still a major issue. The non-intervention principle has allowed ASEAN countries to maintain peace between each other. However, conflicts such as in the Delta Mekong and in Myanmar questions the effectiveness of the principle. This event will be conducted in Bahasa Indonesia and is intended to broaden participants' knowledge around ASEAN centrality and its effectiveness. By joining this event, you can casually voice your opinions, gain insights, and derive a deeper understanding of the issue from various perspectives. Diplomatic Discussion #1: “ASEAN Centrality: Navigating Troubled Waters Through The Waves of Giants” will be held with the following details: day, date : Tuesday, 21th May 2024; time : 15.15 – 17.36 WIB; and place : Aula Student Center, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Indonesia, Depok Please expect our distinguished speaker, Muhammad Al Aula, Diplomat at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia to assist our discussion on ASEAN’s Non-Intervention Principle and ASEAN Centrality. This event will be moderated by Alya Al-Kautsar Zabiansyah, Staff of RnA Division of FPCI Chapter UI Board of 2024. Internal members of FPCI Chapter UI and invited organizations are required to confirm their attendance through this form: bit.ly/DipDisc1 Save the date and see you at the discussion! A diplomatic conference is history in the making. And our Member States began writing another chapter in the history of our organisation when they convened this week for the final leg of negotiations on a proposed treaty on genetic resources and traditional knowledge associated with genetic resources. I am no stranger to international negotiations. Ten years ago, I was in Bali for the World Trade Organization Ministerial Conference. It was the culmination of years of difficult and – at times – fractured negotiations. Meetings throughout the night that, thanks to flexibility on all sides, brought us to a successful outcome. Listening to opening statements on the first day of our Dip Con, I heard a similar determination: a commitment to be inclusive and transparent, bringing all voices to the table, including those from indigenous peoples and local communities; a willingness to look for common solutions; and a desire to seize the moment after 25 years of work. The road to this diplomatic conference has been long and winding, but we are here today, which already bodes well for multilateralism and the ability of the IP system to evolve. I echo DG Daren Tang’s message at the opening ceremony: that we need to “marry passion with pragmatism, and channel the same spirit of flexibility, accommodation and consensus that has brought us now to the cusp of a truly landmark agreement.” I wish all the delegates the best of luck in the coming two weeks as they work to bridge their remaining differences.
