It's pretty mild out, but that rain, eek! But you know what? I say that from the warmth and shelter of my own home. Too many people don't have that luxury. And you know what? It should not be a luxury. Everyone should have a home, a place to rest their head, a place of sanctuary, a place to rest, recuperate, and grow. We're heading into the final countdown to Christmas, and my final countdown until I sign off. Many of you reading this will have already put the OOO on, and switched into festive break mode. You. Deserve. It. But so does everyone else. So do the 135,800 young people who approached their council as homeless last year. So do the 73,660 households owed a prevention or relief duty by their council (5,394 in GM!) So do the 105,750 households in temporary accommodation. So do the 139,000 children in temporary accommodation. These are massive numbers, so I'll give you some smaller ones. Our winter campaign is just £9,120 off the target. That's just 304 of my network giving £30 each, enough to cover a bed for the night in the pioneering scheme, A Bed Every Night. It's not just a bed, it's the start of a journey to stability, and just one way we can make a dent in the terrible numbers reported daily. Those numbers are people. They're families, children, sisters, brothers, mothers, fathers, aunties, uncles. Let's get to that 30k target. Let's make a difference. Donate today. If you can't, don't worry, just spread the word.
