More VIC high-rises and density are the way to pay for rail expansion The Age reports that the Victorian government needs $34.5 billion to fund the expansion of the Suburban Rail Loop East and the Federal Government will only provide $2.2 billion. So, we’re likely to see more high-rise strata buildings approved to help fund it. Higher density development will be allowed the the 6 new stations: Box Hill, Burwood, Glen Waverley, Monash, Clayton and Cheltenham; increasing  populations in those areas by 100% to 285%.
