I make healthcare better. Physician-entrepreneur building happy healthcare teams and innovative care models to deliver exceptional patient care in areas of need. CEO Pazona MD Urology and VirtuCare
The lack of medical specialists in rural America is a big problem. One of the … primary causes of this shortage is something I like to call “White Knight Syndrome” (WKS). It’s a rampant disease and is hurting patients. Let me explain. WKS is caused when well intended healthcare systems falsely hope that a specialist is going to ride into their community, set up a practice for 30 years, and never leave. Sounds wonderful, but it only happens in story books. But wait Dr. P, why can’t I recruit a full-time specialist? Here’s why: 1. No one is going to agree to “only 10 days of ER call a month”. Change your outdated bylaws please and improve your job posting. 2. Most of us value quality of life over quantity of our paycheck. Your community is lovely, but we’d rather live in Nashville, Atlanta, Charlotte etc. No amount of money will change this fact. 3. Healthcare is a team sport. It’s really challenging to recruit additional staff to join you in rural communities. We can’t do this alone. What’s a solution you may ask? Innovative care models. Partner with companies like VirtuCare who implement outpatient clinics by leveraging telemedicine and periodic on site care. Our doctors live where they want, but practice where they are needed. 100% deliverable. There are 900 active job postings for urologists on Practice Link right now. Many of these have been present for several YEARS. Is your White Knight really coming? #ruralhealthcare #healthcareadministration #physicianstaffing #telemedicine

Post-Acute Care Expertise • Project Management • Practice Management • Finance, Operations and Business Restructuring
𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒏𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒘𝒊𝒕𝒉 𝒑𝒆𝒐𝒑𝒍𝒆 𝒉𝒂𝒔 𝒏𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓 𝒃𝒆𝒆𝒏 𝒎𝒐𝒓𝒆 𝒊𝒎𝒑𝒐𝒓𝒕𝒂𝒏𝒕. In some ways, however, it is more challenging today despite all of the tools available to us. Let’s talk patient outreach. Ten years ago, we often conducted outreach via telephone. While leading a project with a local health plan, we reached 65-75% of members. Today, 65-75% is a pipe dream. Outreach success today via the telephone is 15-25%. Because of the proliferation of scam artists, fraudsters, impostors and the traditional sales call, why would anyone answer a phone call? We conducted outreach telephonically for a recent study over the last 18 months. A mistake. Our outreach must be face-to-face. Two suggestions: 1 - An obvious one, RPM can be introduced when the patient presents at the office. 2 - Not so obvious, RPM can also be introduced in the home. Not via telephone but via a nurse. And it does not have to be nurse employed by you. Collaborate with a top-notch skilled home care company. Train their nurses, allow them to introduce the device to the patient in the home. Enormous benefits accrue for the patient and family. An effective RPM Program reduces cost via lower acute care utilization. We also enhance quality of life by enabling the patient to live at home. Via lower acute care utilization, business opportunities ensue for both the physician practice as well as the home care agency. Lower return rates to the hospital raises the curiosity of others. Who are these others? Hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, health systems, health plans to name a few. These are major business opportunities. 𝑻𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒆𝒔𝒔𝒐𝒏 𝑳𝒆𝒂𝒓𝒏𝒆𝒅: 𝒘𝒉𝒆𝒏 𝒄𝒐𝒏𝒅𝒖𝒄𝒕𝒊𝒏𝒈 𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉, 𝒂 𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆-𝒕𝒐-𝒇𝒂𝒄𝒆 𝒆𝒏𝒄𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒓 𝒊𝒔 𝒇𝒂𝒓 𝒔𝒖𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒊𝒐𝒓 𝒕𝒐 𝒗𝒊𝒓𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍 𝒐𝒖𝒕𝒓𝒆𝒂𝒄𝒉. This is step 1 of the outreach phase. The next step is the type of patient that we engage with. This could make or break your program. We will save this one for next time! #rpm #remotemonitoring #healthtech #physician #doctor #nurse #caremanagement

This is why I do what I do. I'm proud of our teams trying to innovate within the utilization management, network, reimbursement, and provider relations worlds. #ValueBasedCare The 2023 SLP Health Care Survey by The American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) revealed that about one third of speech-language pathologists "have felt pressured by their employer or supervisor to engage in clinically inappropriate activities," such as "altering documentation for reimbursement and providing services for which an SLP has inadequate training and/or experience," with "percentages [...] highest in skilled nursing facilities and subacute care facilities". https://lnkd.in/e4XBa9tE

Is empathy dead in healthcare? Recently my mom was sharing a room in a hospital with an elderly person suffering from Parkinson’s. The nurses, though not rude, were very inconsiderate to the patient’s needs - doing weird stuff like - drawing blood at 5 in the morning - giving sponge baths with the AC on though the patient complained of feeling cold This made me wonder if empathy is dead in healthcare as it just becomes a task to be performed. Various factors, such as - increasing workloads - burnout and - the growing role of technology in healthcare can sometimes make it harder for caregivers to consistently express empathy and their empathy may sometimes seem diminished in certain contexts or experiences. I hope efforts are being made to - improve the work environment - provide better training and - incorporate technology in a way that supports rather than replaces human connection We should all aim at preserving and enhancing EMPATHY in care. Empathy will always remain a vital and irreplaceable aspect of human care, and we need to ensure it continues to be a priority. #healthcare

2moI think it should be noted yall have someone pretending to be a recruiter and emailing candidates and getting there information and blocking them.i had to file a complaint with motor vehicles and the police department, because this recruiter says his name is Franklin Henderson is emailing candidates and pretending to give job offers. Sent me a fake employment offer and all and using your company address and fake recruiter email. I applied for a coding job and he sent me a email stating I would be moving forward to the next step. It was stressful, disheartening and disappointing to say the lease. Anyone applying here or linkedin need to be careful because recuriter imposters are stealing real company's information to contact potential candidates and steal there personal information.
