ISPOR 24 offers a trove of valuable research to apply in our work to improve healthcare practice and quality. Lisa Dwyer Orr et al. (PT12), examine the Sense-Think-ACT-Relate (STAR) behavior framework to explore drivers and barriers to health-seeking behaviors and interactions in Lung Cancer and PAD, two disease states with identified racial disparities in diagnosis, treatment outcomes and survivorship. Their conclusions: "Patient perceptions and expectations of their healthcare interactions significantly influence their healthcare-seeking behaviors." "Culturally concordant care was associated with increased trust." Trusting, patient-centered care practices "improve the patient-physician relationship and healthcare interactions and, ultimately, patient outcomes" Critical findings to consider in work aimed at improving healthcare quality. https://lnkd.in/gQ7GfP9E

On October 22, I’ll be taking the stage at HLTH Inc. in Las Vegas with Joaquin Duato, Johnson & Johnson Chairman & CEO. Joaquin and I have spoken before and I am looking forward to our fireside chat about bold ambitions for health care. We are both passionate about utilizing science and technology to solve some of our biggest health care challenges. Joaquin has even said science and technology will transform health care more in the next decade than the last century. We will discuss what leaders need to be thinking about now to realize the potential of the next wave of innovation. We will also discuss what we see possible for the future of cancer treatment.
