Lindsey Fish, MD, medical director of the Peña Urgent Care Clinic, recently co-authored a study published in Journal of Urgent Care Medicine that found patients discharged from urgent care with tachycardia had significantly higher odds of return visits and hospital admissions within seven days. She shared these findings on the The Royal New Zealand College of Urgent Care (RNZCUC) podcast. Dr. Fish also serves on the Board of Directors for URGENT CARE COLLEGE OF PHYSICIANS, which was recently accepted into the American Medical Association Specialty and Service Society—a significant step for advancing urgent care medicine. Fish will serve as the organization's first representative to the AMA.

The Essential Role of Family Medicine in Comprehensive Healthcare Family medicine serves as the cornerstone of comprehensive healthcare, offering continuous and holistic care to individuals and families. As a family physician, I’ve seen firsthand the profound impact of building long-term relationships with patients, which fosters trust and enhances health outcomes. In family medicine, we address a wide range of health issues, from preventive care to managing chronic conditions. Our approach is patient-centered, emphasizing the importance of understanding the unique needs of each patient within the context of their family and community. Recently, I encountered a case that highlights the significance of family medicine. A young mother came to our clinic with her three children, each experiencing different health concerns. By providing integrated care, we were able to address their needs effectively, demonstrating the efficiency and compassion inherent in family medicine. The holistic approach of family medicine not only improves individual health but also strengthens the health of entire communities. By focusing on prevention, early detection, and continuous care, family physicians play a pivotal role in enhancing the overall health and well-being of society. #FamilyMedicine #PrimaryCare #Healthcare #PatientCare #HolisticHealth #PreventiveCare

Visit the Impact of Aging Toolbox: https://loom.ly/3rDr_V0 The Project Brief: State-of-the-Art Medical Center Provides Senior Services Designed to Accommodate an Aging Population, asks an important question. Can the built environment be configured to keep patients fully engaged and ensure their safety? Geriatric patients from the University Medical Center of Princeton at Plainsboro (UMCPP) received specialized care through two designated programs: a specific emergency department program for geriatric patients, and an Acute Care for the Elderly unit. Their goal was to make it easier for seniors to access emergency medical care and inpatient services by tailoring the units to better support their needs. Visit our Impact of Aging Toolbox sponsored by Patcraft to see the results.
