...very interesting insights, Arwel Owen, Gaurish Dessai, I agree the architecture is a very good approach. Personally I have to say I would add also non-SAP ERP's on the overall architecture. There is many advantages on having a secondary ERP system operating, among them that for small units it might be fitting much better and also in M&A you might inherit a new and modern and perfectly fitting local ERP - good reasons to reconsider effort versus benefit..... Plus you have disconnected fallback options for security incidents and also if your primary vendor lock-in becomes unbearable...and unpayable....

Some time ago, I had written about M&A Integration being a niche use case for SAP Public Cloud - https://lnkd.in/ezNMNriU This post is about extending into the concept SAP calls 'Two-Tier Architecture.' Two-tier ERP architecture is a strategy implemented by SAP to address needs of global organizations with complex structures or subsidiaries or continous M&A activities. It involves involves implementing different ERP systems for different parts of an organization (typically in two tiers): 🏢 Tier 1 or Corporate ERP - used by the headquarters or main business units normally private cloud or customer data center. 🏬 Tier 2 or Satellite ERP - often public cloud to be used by subsidiaries or smaller business units. This two-tier architecture allows to respond quickly to changing market and customer requirements, Streamlines processes and reduces implementation costs / time-to-market for smaller units and bring efficiency to smaller business units. At corporate level, it allows seamless integration between the headquarters and subsidiaries, enabling effective trade, central reporting across the organization and faster integration of newly acquired businesses. Connecting these two tiers is the BTP platform for trade and data exchange & the two tiers are supported by common Group reporting, CFIN and other corporate solutions such as concur, successfactors, etc. #SAP #SAPBTP #SAPCommunity #SAPS4HANA #Architecture

I agree with you Frank Endrikat. I believe it is important to have a full high level picture of the digital landscape and how SAP interacts with 3rd parties.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts Frank Endrikat - agree on the Non-SAP systems - existing non-SAP would be plugged into both the ERP systems as needed.
