As you may remember, at the beginning of the year I wrote about applications that attracted me as a traveler and product manager. Today, I want to talk about one such app that's particularly close to my heart – Untappd by Greg Avola. It is a unique social network for beer lovers, allowing users to log their beer experiences, connect with friends, and find new beers and bars based on their tastes and location.  Very convenient for those who travel a lot! From a PM perspective, here are my thoughts on the app: 1. The app's layout emphasizes straightforward navigation and user-centric design, facilitating the discovery, rating, and sharing of beers. However, the one feature I find less appealing is the badges awarded with each review. This seems like an overly unnecessary form of gamification compared to what I've observed in other apps. 2. Untappd shines in providing personalized beer recommendations based on your taste preferences and geolocation. This feature has significantly enriched my experiences, leading me to discover new favorites. 3. Easy acquisition and community building. Whenever I visit a bar with friends, I make it a point to scan a beer with my camera and write a review. This invariably piques my friends' curiosity, leading them to download the app themselves. As a result, I have a wide circle of friends in the app but still post the reviews alone 😅 Yeah, enhancing user retention is an aspect that deserves more attention. 4. The app integrates seamlessly with local bars and breweries, showcasing their offerings and events, which supports local businesses. I'm always amazed at how effortlessly I can find relevant beers from nearly any bar and brewery worldwide. Have you ever used Untappd?
