To say Uber Eats and Doordash are killing you is probably an overstatement, but to say they’re causing you to gain weight and form bad habits probably isn’t. The hyper-app-ification of everything in our lives — from e-mail to Zoom meetings to on-demand food delivery and more — makes it really hard for us to seek anything but pure convenience. We’ve known for a while now that takeout meals aren’t good for us, but it gets hard to turn them down when they’re thrown at us via notifications on our phones with $5 and $10 promos. f you’re an American, most restaurants in your neighborhood, however sentimental their value is to you, probably throw in a lot of excess oils, salt, MSG, or flavor-enhancing sauces that won’t be accurately reflected in calorie counts.* *If you have the luxury of seeing the estimated calories on your takeout meals, my best advice is always to assume they’re underestimated. But fear not. Meal delivery services — whether the food is pre-made or not yet assembled — are improving, and I happen to have a few that I think are great for maintaining or losing weight. I've compiled a list of the meal delivery services I think are doing the best work in creating a healthier America (and ways to use them to your benefit if you're on a tight calorie budget) below. Check it out!

Wendy's tests demand based surge pricing, similar to Uber I believe this is a risky move when fast food is already struggling with high costs. For years, fast food was popular because it was cheap and quick. Nowadays, with a Big Mac meal priced almost the same as a healthier Chipotle bowl, the big question is: where will you choose to grab your next meal? Feel free to share your thoughts. #SurgePricing #FastFoodNews #FoodIndustryTrends #EatingHealthyVsFastFoo #ConsumerChoices #FastFoodCosts #DigitalMenuInnovation #PriceFluctuations #AffordableEats #FastFoodChallenges

If Zomato or Swiggy come with an option during order food on food quantity (quarter portion or half portion), can we reduce wastage of food? During dinner time I prefer to eat less. Now if I order a food item in zomato or swiggy from my preferable restaurant, I will get good quantity of food. But, I can not eat that much. So, the leftover food will be a westage or I need to eat later which is not a very healthy option. What is your thoughts? #zomato #swiggy

Is the rush for 10-minute deliveries costing us the essence of a good meal? When a meal arrives in under 10 minutes, a thought crosses my mind—how fresh is this really? I hated Zomato's Intercity Legends because of this factor - stale frozen food. Is this the “fast-foodization” of meals that we once waited eagerly for? There’s a certain comfort in knowing your food was made with care. When I sit down to eat, I don’t want to wonder if what I’m enjoying was pre-cooked, reheated, and rushed to my door just to meet the clock. It makes me question—are we sacrificing the soul of our meals in exchange for speed? Look, I hate when Biryani By Kilo takes 60 minutes for the delivery but I know I am getting the real stuff. And I love when stuff arrives in 10 minutes from Blinkit which can be used to cook food, quicker, but not cooked food, no no. As consumers, should we demand more than just fast? Shouldn’t we still expect fresh, flavorful and real food? #Swiggy #FoodDelivery #DemandFreshFood

TLDR on QSRs: The uptick in meal deals aren't changing fast food's enduring pricey reputation.🤑🍟 "Hot deals aren't doing much yet to convince more people that fast food isn't expensive," writes Business Insider. "There's been almost no change in perceived value over the last few months as restaurants started launching their cheap eats, according to Morning Consult data." 🗞: https://lnkd.in/gQXK6QiK. 📊: https://lnkd.in/gKvm36Zq
