Furthermore, we can look at companies that went all in on data-driven performance and failed (look at Nike for the most recent large scale failure there). As for what you feed Claude, ChatGPT and other GenAI tools it's the garbage in, garbage out principal. 🤣 It is also difficult to trust models that have been trained on all of the internet, when we know there is a lot of garbage on the internet. From my experience in enterprise, and in talking to friends in large organizations, those who are working with the data know it needs to be cleaned but their business counterparts aren't giving them the time needed to do it properly. There are various reasons why, one example is being beholden to your quarterly KPIs which can short sight the longterm benefits of doing things correctly. There are large organizations spending billions on feeding AI / ML models their data for some time now and still have not gotten any reliable or useful information out of it.

I appreciate the quest for improved UX through new features and enhancements but this one was not for me. Notion defaulted us desktop users to enable New Tab Search. It works great, unless you have multiple Workspaces you toggle between throughout the day. I am thankful this is a feature you can turn OFF.

I really feel for Microsoft on this recent incident. Crowdstrike isn't the face of this. Regardless of whether media coverage was good enough to say it wasn't Microsoft's fault, what everyone saw was the infamous blue screen of death — everywhere. Despite the number of computers affected, nearly 8.5 million, we're talking about a small amount of Windows machines. That means 99% of Windows computers were not affected.

Meta released a “major” update to it’s open source* AI model on Tuesday. Llama is the standard for for all AI applications outside of the likes of OpenAI. The openness though, is attractive, and I believe an incredible bet on the future of AI. Llama 405b, the largest and first of it’s kind in an open source form affords starts ups, enterprise, or governments to build custom models for their specific needs. This is difficult with closed models like OpenAI or Gemini. Meta’s vision is that there should be lots of models, not just OpenAI, Anthropic, and Gemini. What would a custom sized model trained in your companies data accomplish? 🤔 * It’s really “open weights” not “open source” since they are not releasing the source code.

A way to lower the boundary for getting reviews and success stories: 📲 Stick an iPad with a keyboard at the front desk 📝 Have a full page, simple form for them to fill out 🙋🏻♀️ Ask only the relevant questions 📸 Take their picture! You don't have to get everyone coming in and out of the gym, but if that iPad is always there, first they'll notice and think about it. Then after they've seen it a few times they'll ask about it. Finally your front desk can quickly grab their photo on the way out. ⭐️ Bonus points if you have a branded backdrop, good lighting, and can send them the photo after!

Looking at the performance from one of our client's content marketing articles to see that their actual impressions were nearly double our estimates. Feels nice to over deliver!

We had a power outage last a few days here recently. It doesn't happen often, and the power company slipped on it's estimates so much we lost everything in our refrigerator. Could have been avoided. Either way, if you're in Texas right now and without power, I hope it's restored soon! 🔋
