Did you know that there is a 17-year gap between when solutions are discovered in research and when they are implemented in practice? This is true in the mental health space, too, and means that many interventions rolled out across Canada are not timely, effective or relevant by the time they reach those in need. At Frayme, we are passionate about mobilizing the best information and evidence available to drive real change for Canadians. We have helped thousands of corporations, service providers, researchers and policy makers create lasting impact across the sector, and we'd love to help you, too. 💡Meeting the Demand: Assessing Mental Health Support Across Demographic Groups in Canada💡 is the first in a series of reports on access to mental health services produced by our Coalition member organization, Mental Health Research Canada. The findings highlight significant barriers to care for groups with higher mental health needs, and even when services are accessed, they often do not fully meet those needs. "The analysis across provinces presents a different narrative, with each province having its own pattern of needs, access to care, and percentage of met needs." Today, the AIHW released a report on mental health services in Australia. The report details mental health-related services provided by various levels of government, expenditure and where mental health services were delivered. New data show that the number of mental health carer workers and peer workers has increased between 2017–18 and 2021–22. Mental Health in Switzerland: Are We in Crisis? Since the pandemic, the mental health of the Swiss population appears to be deteriorating, as highlighted by several recent studies. The latest Swiss Health Survey (ESS) reveals a worrying rise in psychological distress, particularly among young women: 29% of those aged 15-24 are affected, compared to 19% in 2017. The debate is open: Are we truly facing a mental health crisis, or is it simply increased awareness that is encouraging more people to seek help? One thing is clear: the demand for therapy is rising, and so are the costs related to mental health care. According to the Swiss Federal Office of Public Health, it is essential to better understand the causes of this trend to act effectively. What do you think? Is Switzerland experiencing a mental health "crisis"? Join the discussion and share your thoughts on this crucial topic for the future of our society. #MentalHealth #Switzerland #Wellbeing #Discussion #ESS #PublicHealth #MentalWellness

#mentalhealthmatters NATIONAL MENTAL HEALTH REPORT CARD highlights many useful data points and trends about the wellbeing of people in Australia and the capacity of our mental health system: There is increasing psychological distress across the community, tracked by the National Health Survey (from 10.8 per cent in 2011, to 13.6 per cent in 2017 to 14.4 per cent in 2022 of people experiencing high or very high psychological distress). Young women are experiencing far higher rates of mental health conditions now than before (46 per cent in 2022 compared to 29 per cent in 2007). There is a 32 per cent shortfall in mental health workers (across a range of professions). There has been no significant improvement in the proportion of people reporting positive experiences of public mental health care. Promisingly, the data indicates the gap in employment rate between people with and without experience of mental health conditions is reducing. Data such as this is essential in steering the focus of policymakers and enabling accountability for progress over time. #naseematravels #mentalhealthawareness https://lnkd.in/gwpTf8He

With Canadian Mental Health Week (May 6 – 12) coming up, it’s important to remember that mental health is health, and we must take care of ourselves. I’m encouraged by data from our recent Designed for Health report that shows more people are seeking the mental health support they need. Together with employers, we’re helping to bridge the gap and helping Canadians access mental health care.
