As a game dev or aspiring game dev, it might be worth considering similar fields. For example. If you’re a Unity game developer, you also have the skills to be a Unity enterprise developer. While the economy in general is taking a hit, with games feeling it quite a bit, it may be good to open your horizons in the meantime. Be less picky. Your dream job is limited by what you can imagine. So, I’d recommend be ok with trying different things. Especially now when it’s generally harder to find a job. As a Unity developer who’s made both games and enterprise apps, I can almost guarantee that it’s 90% the exact same time of work. Try it. What’s the worst that could happen? #gamesindustry #careercoaching #growth #mindset #enterprise

Hi everyone, I'm looking for a job as a Unity Developer. I have 5 years experience. Made different mechanics, so I can make any mechanics. I like to make games. Today I sketched a prototype of a fun game on cubes, pure physics is used. The game uses the audio of the old but cool game Deadhunt from 2005. What do you think of the game? Leave your reaction if you like it) Maybe I will continue to make it #jobsearchtips hashtag #jobsearchsupport hashtag #offeringhelp

How many times have you started a new game dev project and ended it 1 – 2 weeks later? I’ve been there and I’d like to point something out…. something that slowed my career progression down. Until you have a clear plan for what job you want and how you’re going to get it, combined with the self-control to stick to a plan, you will continue to make that same mistake. If you want to get a job as a Unity Mobile Game Developer but you’re really excited to make a game in unreal engine because you got a discount on a course or something, then you need to NOT take that course. You’re slowing down your progress. Anything not directly related to the job you want should be considered a waste in the context of that goal. Trust me, I have many unfinished projects. More unfished ones than finished ones. Once you go through the process of excitement, lack of direction into burnout a few times, you pick up on the fact that something needs to change. Create clear, maintainable goals with clear tangible results. Then stick to that plan. Your job search will be way less stressful. Trust me. #gamesindustry #careercoaching #growth #mindset

Wanted to expand this to my network as I know quite a few of you lurkers are seasoned Unity Devs and Technical Production Managers. Ayla Derrick and her team at Cave Bear Games are good people and quick learners but to get to the finish line, they need some experienced folks to help guide them. Reach out to jump in the comments if you have time you can dedicate to have a conversation about their process and needs. I know things in the industry seem dire due to the current churn and chaos. But, despite it all, I'm constantly inspired and left in awe by teams like this that persist and carry on. They represent the future of our industry and if we want to help, lending our wisdom is one of the best ways we can do that. What are we going to do with our struggles if not share them? Are we gonna just sit there and keep all of this knowledge to ourselves? Are we confining ourselves to our lairs full of piles and piles of our hard-fought experiences just to sprawl protectively over them like some Dragon hoarding their insight? Of course not! Because we're (unfortunately) not Dragons ... we're people -- and people help one another if they can.
Hi network! I'm looking for some mentor recommendations! I am looking for: Unity Programmer mentor Technical Producer mentor Please tag your recommendations! I actually prefer you do NOT tag yourself I can answer questions in the comments~

Hi Unity Devs! 👋Have you ever faced the issue of having to manually go to the menu scene every time you want to play your game, only to switch back to your working scene afterward? 🔄 Well, I recently discovered a fantastic script called SceneBootstrapper.cs while learning about design patterns in Unity. It efficiently solves this problem! ✨ This is a game-changer, and every Unity developer should use it. I wish I had found this earlier, as it could have saved me a ton of time and effort. I think Unity should include this option by default. Script Link : https://lnkd.in/ejhbaPmU Simply import the script, and it will always start with the first scene in your build settings. Once you exit Play Mode, it will automatically return to your working scene. No more searching for the MainMenu scene! 🔍 #unity3d #IndieDev #gamedevelopment #unitytips #efficiency #unityhacks

It's been a while since the last time I posted something here. The last weeks were tough - my wife and I are in a phase, where one negative point follows the other. Because I got the next funding applications rejected and the progress in our game "Magical Harvest" is very slow due to missing money to hire people (and now a broken computer), I am about to rethink the development of the game. The progress is slow and since my last income lies over 5 years now. I want to get paid again for the work I do - especially because I'm getting older and have to think about pension as well. So I was thinking about getting a programmer job - but there the next problems appear: the game market is harsh right now and since I worked mostly on my own projects, I need to consider me as a junior dev regarding programming. I have experience in team-lead and producing now, I can also create simple/stylized 3D-models and use Substance Designer and Painter - so I can do everything regarding programming and 3D-art, but nothing perfect. Simple 2D is also one of my skills. My main skills are based on Unreal Engine and Unity - and therefore C++ and C#. I would be a great fit for indie-studios because of that knowledge, but currently the market seems to be really harsh in the gaming scene. And software development? I have no clue about that and would need to start from zero - what is even needed right now? ... If you know someone who needs a Unity- or Unreal-Developer, feel free mention me! I have a very high intrinsic motivation and passion for game development and can offer my skills in various other parts of the development. (I'm based in Sweden and would prefer remote work, but within Sweden options can be considered) #indiegames #indiedeveloper #gamedevelopment #gamedeveloper #unreal #unity

#UnityDevelopment #CareerComeback #AnxietyInTech #GameDevJourney Hey everyone! 😊 So, I wanted to share something that’s been weighing on my mind lately. A little over two years ago, I had been working as a Unity Developer for about 6 months, developing games and immersing myself in the world of coding. But life took a turn, and I ended up taking a two-year break from coding and Unity development altogether. Fast forward to now, I recently got hired by a local firm as a Unity Developer! 🎉 It’s super exciting, but here’s the kicker—I’m feeling this intense wave of anxiety. I can’t help but think, “What if I’ve forgotten everything?” Coding, Unity, game development… it feels like ages since I’ve done any of it! Here’s what I’m really grappling with: - **Memory loss:** Did I really forget everything after two years? - **Fear of failure:** What if I can’t keep up? - **Impostor syndrome:** Am I qualified enough to be back in this role? 😟 I’d love to hear from anyone who’s been i...
