This time of year used to mean sending everyone home, slow time in the office to do project closeout paperwork, bid jobs for spring, work on internal projects that get put on the back burner, and do a little wandering to get away and relax. The last 5 years winter for us has meant trying to quickly get the summer jobs done so we can transition to the winter work. Battle the late season elements to wrap up so we can start shipping off the the next spot. January will kick of 3 new jobs to start 2025, with lots more behind those. What used to be the slow pace time of year has now turned into to our rush season to flip to the next stop, while still needing to close out the last ones, and still bidding during the busy bidding season through the winter (luckily we don’t need to do much of that this winter). This change of pace makes the few weeks we do stop at the holidays that much more important every year. I’ve grown to look forward to that few weeks of quiet to get some rest, play with the kids, do some house projects, and maybe stop in a few days and do a few of those office back burner projects while no one is around. We are thankful for the guys hard work this year, looking forward to another very busy year next year, and can’t wait for those couple of slow weeks before the craziness continues on as if it didn’t know winter even existed.
It’s starting to feel a lot like winter here in Michigan. Some snowy watermain action as we are down to the last little bit of watermain installation on our Delta Township St Joe Watermain and Pathway project. Luckily we will have a little bit of warmer weather after this weeks cold spell as we work the wrap most of this project up before year end. #duniganbros #betterdirtworld #undergroundconstruction I

Exciting update from the field! We are utilizing sediment control techniques to construct Islands in the delta of Red River, aiding Mother Nature in forming islands in Netley Lake and reviving natural marshland at the river's mouth. My expertise was crucial in designing the fence for this project, with my team leading the installation. Stay tuned as we observe how it performs in the upcoming months. 🌿 Some fascinating facts about the area: - The Red River flows from Minnesota to Lake Winnipeg, eventually reaching Hudson Bay. - Lake Winnipeg ranks as the 11th largest lake globally in terms of surface area. - Over the past 90 years, human activities have deteriorated the marshland. - Witnessing nature's creation of a new delta, we are expediting the process using our innovative sediment control techniques. - All products used are 100% natural and biodegradable. Watch the project in action: #SedimentControl #EnvironmentalRestoration #NatureConservation #RedRiverDelta #LakeWinnipeg #MarshlandRestoration

The 2025 National Western Stock Show is underway, making this the perfect time to round up Wilson & Company’s work to support the growth of the National Western Center. Key projects include: ◾ Rebuilding Brighton Boulevard from 47th Avenue to Race Court: Improved access and eased traffic flow throughout this important corridor. ◾ Denver Rock Island Railroad (DRIR) rail relocation: Included the consolidation and relocation of almost 3 miles of railroad tracks away from the river. ◾ Grading work: We are supporting the construction of new facilities like the Stockyard Events Center, Equestrian Center, and Livestock Center. ◾ Stockyard grading and drainage system: Our team designed an advanced diversion system that will help manage runoff during heavy rains. ◾ Wastewater can be diverted to the holding basin and delivered to the city’s wastewater system; cleaner water can be held until discharged to the storm drain system. ◾ Sheep Bridge: A remnant bridge section over the South Platte River, known as the “sheep bridge,” has been preserved as an interpretive artifact. These projects are laying the foundation for the future of the National Western Center, one that will celebrate Western heritage for generations to come! 📣 New Project: Reviving a Watershed 🌱 🦫 We’re excited to announce that we’re starting a new project aimed at restoring the Upper River Poudre Watershed in Colorado, in collaboration with the Coalition for the Poudre River Watershed (CPRW)! ⛰️ The Poudre River stretches 225 km from its headwaters in Rocky Mountain National Park, to its confluence with the South Platte River. Known as a 'working river,' its flows are diverted for human use as soon as it exits the canyon mouth. Additionally, development, agriculture, grazing practices, and the removal of beavers have severely impacted both perennial and ephemeral stream systems. These streams have lost their ability to store sediment, reduce flood and fire risks, and adequately support wildlife. Additionally, recent wildfires that burned approximately 300,000 acres around the river, have further exacerbated these issues. 💪 Our partners, CPRW, are a community-based watershed group, who work with stakeholders on water and forest issues, manage on-site projects, engage residents, and share information to promote stewardship of the Cache la Poudre River Watershed for current and future generations. 🦦 Through this project we’re aiming to reduce wildfire risk, protect water quality, and enhance critical habitats. The plan is to install low-tech process-based restoration (LTPBR) structures in the identified depositional areas. These structures will trap debris and sediment while restoring wetland and floodplain habitats. Check out our latest vlog by Flora to see the work already done and hear from the team on the ground! https://lnkd.in/d-PXMkqP

While California may have the largest entitlement of the Colorado River, it also has the greatest response to climate change actions. Both, the urban and agricultural sectors have stepped up to reduce its use while protecting the environment and it’s economy. The Quantification Settlement Agreement (QSA) helped us balance agricultural and urban demands while ensuring compliance with California’s allocation. We invite the other states to consider this to be the role model.
