A friend told me about a cool refactor he did but couldn't explain why he did it. After asking 3 Whys, we got down to the bottom of it, and we were able to formulate the benefit of the refactor in business terms. It is really important to know how to translate what we do, so that the business appreciates it. Practice, ask for assistance from your team leader, and make sure you are aligned with the current business goals. Remember: we are problem solvers, not code monkeys!
