For every $1 spent in corporate wellness initiatives, companies see an average return of $3.27 in reduced healthcare costs and $2.73 in lower absenteeism costs. This comes from a Harvard Business Review study published in 2010. This study, titled “What’s the Hard Return on Employee Wellness Programs?” by Leonard L. Berry, Ann M. Mirabito, and William B. Baun. They analyzed the financial returns from various wellness programs implemented by companies and found significant savings in both healthcare expenses and absenteeism. Additionally, the RAND Corporation has conducted research in this area, affirming similar findings on ROI from wellness programs. While these numbers can vary based on size of company and program, the results are overwhelmingly positive for all involved.
