We should learn from the past 47
As Trump pardoned almost all of the Jan. 6th insurrectionists, lest we forget that President Andrew Johnson pardoned almost all Confederates. And in due time, they regained power, framed antiracist Reconstruction policies as anti-White, cast their insurrection to conserve racist slavery as a War of Northern Aggression, banned books and vilified voices documenting the truth, built Jim Crow on lies, laws, and lynchings, and hoisted back up their Confederate flags. History can be a blueprint.

The events we witnessed On January 20, 2025, are a reminder of one thing: #power listens to those who claim it. History shows us this—whether through pardons for those who sought to destroy democracy, the silence that follows loud moments, or the rewriting of laws to uphold systems of oppression. But for women like us—driven, educated, ready to lead—the lesson is clear: our words must move people, not just fill the room and we must lead to speak and write up to take action to protect our businesses and our legacies. When you’re writing that proposal, don’t just ask—own the outcome. When you’re crafting that email, make it impossible to ignore. Words are power, and wielding them well is how you ensure your voice carries, not fades. Then take wise and strategic action. I’ve spent time in courtrooms where precision and confidence can change lives. Now, I empower women like you to take those same skills into boardrooms, businesses, and beyond. Speak clearly. Ask for what you deserve. Write with the #persuasive conviction that you are more than qualified and the world needs what you bring. Think bigger and on higher levels. #Collaborate. This is a call to action for women leaders, professionals, and change-makers. We can’t sit quietly while narratives undermining truth and justice take hold and our businesses and economic well-being are at risk. We will not retreat.
