The First Amendment protects freedom of religion, which includes beliefs that may be seen as unusual or strange. But what about cults? Are such groups illegal? What makes a cult a cult? What's the difference between a cult and a religion? ➡️ https://bit.ly/4eP4gge

EQUALITY IN LAW AND RELIGION Any gospel of equality either in law, religion or else where is just but a mere rhetoric. I guess one of the worse aspect of oppression and suppression humanity had ever suffered is from the custodians of laws and religions. This is because man had been sedated to think and believe that such institutions have in their nature what it takes to guarantee their equality. Yet how would that be achieved when their very foundation is established on the principles of inequality? ISN-ODP/FMP: Nebeolism-Igweism (2024/05/12)

I've noticed that the origins of this often go unnoticed by many. The United States Bill of Rights📜 (first 10 amendments, ratified 1791). In my Civil Rights and Liberties course, we were diving into the freedom of religion outlined in the first amendment last week. As part of an assignment, I asked 3-5 individuals about their understanding of U.S. religious freedom. While most recognized the right to practice any religion without government interference, they did not know the origin of how the Amendment came about. Similarly, many students completing the assignment expressed shock at the widespread lack of awareness regarding its creation. Let's break it down! — 📜Background: - After the United States Constitution was written in 1787, some people were worried it gave too much power to the government. - They were called Anti-Federalists. They wanted a Bill of Rights to protect people's freedoms. 🔗The Federalists vs. the Anti-Federalists: - The Federalists supported the Constitution as it was. They thought it was good enough without a Bill of Rights. - The Anti-Federalists disagreed. They thought the government could take away people's rights if there wasn't a Bill of Rights specifying individual liberties. - 🖊️ James Madison, one of the Founding Fathers, wrote the Bill of Rights. 🤔What's in the Bill of Rights?: - The states had to agree to the Bill of Rights. - In 1791, the states ratified it, making it a part of the Constitution. - The Bill of Rights has ten amendments. - 1st amendment protects freedoms like religion, assembly, speech, petition, and press (RASPP) Check out these awesome Resources: https://lnkd.in/gSKZm_Fv. https://lnkd.in/gbabCbEZ https://lnkd.in/gWXPSPK3 #BillofRights #USConstitution #law #government
