Oh the things you find when doing investigations. We were brought in on this project to review some rotting beams that were structurally supporting the second floor. During the investigation, some less than ideal details were discovered including this stellar column base connection. We are thinking of adding it to our library of "How Not to Build". This weekend, as part of the 24th Biennale of Sydney, White Bay Power Station will open its doors to the public. 🎉 To prepare the site, Trendspek’s 3D models provided Placemaking NSW a means to safely inspect the Heritage-listed structure as part of extensive remediation works. By using our Precision Reality Twins, Placemaking NSW’s project team could virtually navigate and zoom into every corner of White Bay Power Station’s exterior to “minimise the risks associated with mobile plant and equipment, while also giving our architect, structural engineer and contractors access to areas of the asset they needed to see, in full context.” By adopting a digital solution, surveyors could confidently identify defects and plan maintenance without needing rope access or scaffolding across a historic structure that hadn’t been accessed for decades.
