Adversity to Triumph: Captain Perkin’s Incredible Story In an industry where the challenges for newcomers never cease, the story of Captain Guy Perkins stands out as one of perseverance, compassionate leadership, and authentic diversity. From a life-altering accident at the tender age of 16 to commanding superyachts with grace, his journey truly defies the odds. Guy's path wasn't just about overcoming physical barriers; it was a testament to his indomitable will, his relentless pursuit of excellence and strengthened by his incredible emotional intelligence. From his early days as a deckhand in the Caribbean to winning the prestigious ACREW Best Captain award, Captain Perkin’s narrative breaks stereotypes and fosters inclusivity every step of the way. It is a powerful reminder of what we can achieve with tenacity, courage, and a supportive community. His story, detailed in an inspiring interview feature on Our Faceless Crew’s website, isn't just his own. It's a narrative shared by many in the shadows, striving against the odds. It's a call to recognize every crew member's contribution and to foster a sense of belonging that transcends conventional barriers. As Our Faceless Crew community launched, we aimed not just to share stories, but to build a community where every voice is heard, every story is valued, and every dream is within reach. I wish to invite all my followers and connections to read our stories, share our experiences, and to find inspiration and camaraderie in our journeys. Each of our challenges and achievements enriches our community. And if you, too, have a story you wish to tell, sound your horn and we will listen. Our yachting community is LISTENING and SUPPORTING. A future where crew is faceless no longer exists. ***THOUGHTS FROM THE TRAIL*** We officially welcomed a new four-legged member to our family. Meet Blaze! She’s a sweet, 19 y/o gal that has been there/done that in terms of rodeo. Our youngest daughter has also been riding for a bit and since we already owned one horse, we thought, what the heck, what’s one more! Blaze is what they consider a babysitter horse. She has a ton of giddy-up left in her when asked, but is seasoned enough to only go as fast as the rider on her back asks, which makes her a perfect horse for my daughter to learn and grow with. When you watch Queenie and Blaze run barrels or rope steers, they look very similar. In fact, they both carry the same classification of Quarter Horse, yet they’re two completely different horses. This concept translates perfectly into the professional world. Two job titles can appear similar across different organizations but could require totally different skill sets and personalities. Don’t judge a role or a candidate solely by the title. Dive deeper. Look at the environment, requirements, and the unique cultural fit of each organization. Understanding these nuances can significantly enhance your career journey or hiring process.

I help healthcare frontliners enhance patient interaction through professional etiquette training.||Public Health Advocate ||Forbes BLK Member
DEAR CHARMING FRONTLINER, How do you become one? Being a charming Frontliner is about being professional. So who is a professional charming Frontliner? Is someone who does the work that he must do when he must do it. Do your work and do it on time. Wise King Solomon said in Proverbs 22:29, “If you see a man who is quick to do his work, prompt to do his work, not when he feels like but when it needs to be done, you are looking at a man who’s going to stand with kings.” Promptness to do your work, to do what you have to do, not what you want to do, is the mark of the true professional. The professional always busies himself with business only. His true work.Just because one is not idle does not mean one is actually working. It is actually quite easy to keep busy, but you must be sure you are busying yourself with the task for which you are actually being paid. Resist the temptation to do only what you want, and do what you must do, and you will find the favor of your employer, your fellow man, and God. Learning how to become a charming Frontliner is a SKILL😃 I'm Coach Susan Njah I transform you from ordinary Frontliner into a charming Frontliner in 3 days. Interested? Send me a DM. #charmingfrontline #professional #etiquettematters

When I first started as a Job Captain a year ago, I used to joke about not having a ship or a sail boat, especially in the middle of Texas. I did join a team and I've been learning a thing or two of what it takes to get projects done in a timely fashion, with the help of a good team, similar to a captain at 🌊. #Team members are #inspired, and #driven by different things. Team members also have different personalities. Some just want the task and be left alone. Others need to be reminded of the company mission and vision often. It is important to recognize that, learn as much as we can about our team so we can better trust and give them responsibilities aligned with their personalities and strengths. Great projects flourish from, great team dynamics, understanding and each owning a piece of the project. P.S. Good team members also compromise, let others know where we may fail, and voice their opinions... Communication is key.

Fun chatting with Kent Richeson about Crew. Would love to hear your thoughts about how to teach kids about investing. Some of my quick thoughts: - As an adult you probably only want to invest money that you aren't planning to need in the short term. For a kid that generally would mean they have nothing to invest, but you still want to teach them the principles. - The most important principles are probably around passive investment, taking a long term view, avoiding daily checkins on fluctuation on price, and continuously setting aside money. - Want to know how to identify and avoid get rich quick/ponzi schemes schemes with impossibly high returns. - But! You also want to figure out a way to adapt to a child's attention span or time horizon. For instance you may need to manufacturer amazing/unrealistic returns for your very young child to teach them to delay gratification. "If you set keep $10 in your savings for a month I'll give you another $10". As always, the best way to teach is probably to model good behavior for them to emulate.
