'It's Never Over, Jeff Buckley' strikes an emotional chord at Sundance Film Festival. Amy Berg's "electric" and "remarkable" (TheWrap) portrait of the ’90s singer-songwriter was met with praise, nostalgia and tears following the documentary's premiere and an emotional musical tribute from Buckley's friend, musician Ben Harper - a beautifully intimate performance and a moment which Rolling Stone "wished would never be over". The "rapturous" (Variety) film, told through never-before-seen footage, is a “sombre and evocative tribute” (IndieWire) that illuminates one of the most influential and enigmatic figures in modern music. With the film, “I was trying to understand and articulate why I love him so much”, said Berg in an interview with The Guardian. But, she noted, “There just aren’t words to explain Jeff Buckley.” #Sundance #JeffBuckley Topic Studios

Seems as though big budget film and theater (Broadway Musicals specifically), just are just missing the mark. So few have a long life and recoup quickly (of course with Bway, the tour aspect is helfpful) What's going to shift this? Surely the answer is not star power as there is a great deal there.....the nature of content? originality? better tune into target audience and marketing to that? prices? ??? https://lnkd.in/eNxA2GA5

This is interesting. Could wicked be really banned in 3-5 years in the United States? Wicked is one of the most notable films in the United States. Although it was briefly pulled from theaters in Kuwait. Remember Kuwait? Could this blockbuster musical ever be fully banned in the United States? What's your take on this perspective by Adam McKay? Going from 📚 to 📽️? #CouldThisBePossible? #BanningBooksandFilmsIsNotCool #itistimetoinnovate! I need some good Hashtags! https://lnkd.in/eQiVqUEb

I think that’s all over now, a contention that something like the below seems to support, and that’s a shame for so many reasons. One of the biggest is what it means for the storytellers. When the music industry collapsed and people stopped buying music, musicians took their work back out on the road; playing live again became a vitally important path for a musician looking to earn a living. Now that the movie industry has collapsed, the film storytellers don’t even have that option – it’s not like a return to live theatre is a viable solution. But we’re a story-hungry world, and all those stories have to be made by someone. It’s just a shame nobody seems to know how to pay the people who truly 𝘥𝘰 make them. The joke may finally be on the Joker. ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ Todd Phillips’s highly anticipated musical follow-up to his Oscar-winning Joker film, starring Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga, opened to a middling box office debut and earned a lackluster $40 million domestically. The film was initially projected to make $50 million to $65 million, with some prerelease projections having estimated the sequel would earn as much as $70 million domestically in its opening weekend. ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ reportedly cost $200 million to make, with Phoenix reportedly taking home $20 million for the sequel and Gaga making about $12 million. Sources with knowledge of the film’s financials report that Folie à Deux will need to generate at least $450 million at the box office in order for the production to break even. It's clear the film has a long way to go if Warner Bros. hopes to recoup its investment. Read more: https://lnkd.in/dS_iwxWA

What do you get when you mix Harry Potter, Pirates of the Caribbean, Gladiator, Batman, Sherlock Holmes, and Papillon on Batman's soundtrack? That's the editing challenge given to me by the conductor Nathalie Muspratt to tease the film concert of the Corps Musical Nivellois, which will take place in 2025. For this montage, I first tried to find all the excerpts in each film that could overlap: either by a movement, an object, a reaction, an emotion... A complex exercise that required over 20 hours of editing for 5 minutes of video, and loads of fun along the way! So, do you like the result? 😊 Want more? 🎬✨ Why do we love the movie musical "Chicago"? Let's talk about the dazzling Richard Gere as Billy Flynn - the charismatic lawyer who could charm the robes off any judge! 🕺💼 His performance alone is a reason to watch, bringing to life the flamboyant and smooth-talking attorney with a knack for turning the courtroom into a stage. "Chicago" isn't just a film; it's a full-blown, toe-tapping extravaganza! 🎶💃 It's like your favorite album; you can experience it over and over, each time finding something new to love. The way it embraces its theatrical roots instead of watering them down for the screen makes it a standout - it's big, it's brassy, and it's a whole lot of fun. So, if you're in the mood for a film that combines killer performances with show-stopping tunes, give "Chicago" a watch. It never gets old! 🌟🎥 #Chicago #MovieNight #RichardGere #Legalmovies

Music may be the Language of Love but it's also useful for propelling and punctuating your video narrative. And because music has its own language, it can be intimidating to talk about. In this episode of the hit series Corporate Film School, we strip down to the underscore and boogie, corporate-style. #corporatevideo, #corporate video
