🔍 5 Months as a Quality Engineer: Key Learnings & Insights on Quality Control 📊 After 5 months as a Quality Engineer at Transsion Tecno Electronics (Pvt) Ltd, I’ve gained valuable hands-on experience in ensuring quality at every stage of mobile manufacturing. Here’s a snapshot of the key lessons I’ve learned so far: 1. QC vs. QA: Understanding the Difference Quality Control (QC) is all about catching defects before they reach the customer. When defects are found, the Quality Engineer plays a critical role in Root Cause Analysis (RCA), identifying the underlying issues, and eliminating them for smoother, more efficient production. Quality Assurance (QA), on the other hand, is a proactive, process-driven approach to preventing defects from happening in the first place-building robust systems that deliver quality from the start. 2. Incoming Quality: The First Line of Defense Quality is built from the very first component. Stringent checks on incoming materials and parts are essential to prevent defects from entering the production line. It’s a small step that pays huge dividends in the long run. 3. Process Control: Maintaining Consistency & Quality With tools like Statistical Process Control (SPC), I’ve learned how to monitor production processes, detect early variations, and implement corrective actions ensuring consistent product quality with every batch. 4. Metrics that Matter: FPY & Defect Density Tracking First-Pass Yield (FPY) and defect density helps pinpoint areas for improvement. Monitoring these metrics is key to ensuring not just the quality of the final product, but the efficiency of the entire production process. 5. Continuous Improvement: Always Evolving Quality engineering is a continuous journey. Each day brings an opportunity to apply root cause analysis, lean principles, and new insights to drive measurable improvements in both product quality and process efficiency. As I look ahead, I’m excited to explore how AI and automation can further elevate quality control in mobile manufacturing. I’m always eager to learn from fellow engineers.
