Forget simple speed tests, the future of onboard Wi-Fi is all about Quality of Experience (QoE) 📈 🛩 While speed tests have been the go-to metric for evaluating Wi-Fi performance, they only tell part of the story. That's where QoE comes in. Companies like Neuron, NetForecast, and the Seamless Air Alliance are developing comprehensive standards to measure the true quality of inflight internet, taking into account factors like latency, packet loss, jitter, and effective bandwidth. This shift towards QoE is a game-changer for airlines and connectivity providers alike. ⏺ QoE provides a holistic view of inflight internet performance, beyond just speed ⏺ Airlines can use QoE data to ensure passengers are satisfied with the service ⏺ Connectivity providers can optimize their networks based on real-world performance metrics ⏺ QoE standards are being developed by multiple companies and alliances From a technical standpoint, QoE monitoring involves tracking data flows between aircraft and various points across the internet. By measuring latency, loss, jitter, DNS response times, and effective bandwidth, companies like NetForecast can pinpoint potential bottlenecks and optimize performance accordingly. This granular level of monitoring is essential for delivering a seamless and reliable inflight internet experience. The shift towards QoE is a major milestone for the inflight connectivity industry. As airlines and providers embrace this new paradigm, passengers can expect a more reliable, consistent, and enjoyable Wi-Fi experience at 30,000 feet. The future of inflight internet is bright – and it's all about Quality of Experience. What do you think about this new approach to measuring onboard Wi-Fi performance? #InflightWiFi #QoE #PassengerExperience #ConnectedAviation #inflight

I’m sure you’ve encountered “Airplane Mode” before, but what is it really? Airplane Mode is a feature on your phone or tablet that instantly turns off all wireless signals—like cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth—with just one tap! But why is it so important during flights? Let’s break it down! 1️⃣Prevents Signal Interference: Your phone sends out signals to stay connected, but those signals can interfere with the plane’s communication and navigation systems. By turning on Airplane Mode, you’re helping pilots communicate safely and avoiding any tech-related turbulence. 2️⃣Conserves Battery Life: Phones constantly search for networks, which drains your battery fast. Airplane Mode stops that search, letting you save your battery for when you need it—like listening to music, watching movies, or reading during the flight! 3️⃣Use In-Flight Wi-Fi: Airplane Mode doesn’t mean you’re disconnected. Many flights now offer in-flight Wi-Fi, and you can still use it after turning on Airplane Mode. Just reconnect to the Wi-Fi network without disrupting any airplane systems. So, next time you board a flight, remember to switch on Airplane Mode to keep the skies safe and your battery full for all your inflight entertainment! Happy Friday, CyberChicks! Safe travels into the weekend! #CyberChicksAcademy #AirplaneModeExplained #TechInTheSky #FlySmart #WomenInTech #StayConnected #USATechSavvy #FridayVibes #WomenWhoFly

Comcast is not 'playing a round' with this use case for a Private 5G network at The Players Championship. And it's a good example of mixed technology Private 5G/Wi-Fi use case. They are leveraging Private 5G to enhance fan and viewer experiences - for example, the Private 5G is used to facilitate connection to cameras, radar, laser systems to gather and report data on things like ball speed, carry distances, to deliver more real-time in-depth analytics. They've upgraded the Wi-Fi network to ensure fans get all the seamless connectivity they need while there to access live broadcasts etc. Interestingly they also implemented heatmapping technology so they can view and deliver 'presence analytics' of the more popular viewing areas. I imagine this would then be used to either tweak or improve performance there going forward. I'm only disappointed I can't drop a 'Fore G' joke in here somewhere.... #Private5G #WiFi #Golf #ForeG

Nokia has launched several of its new innovations in Midsummer Launch in Finland couple of weeks ago. We have announced two new two compact, next-generation outdoor #Airscale baseband products with 4G-5G and 2G-3G-4G-5G options. These baseband products will support twice as much cell capacity and enhance uplink throughput by up to 30 percent while reducing power consumption by up to 40 percent compared to existing basebands we have. On #Airscale radio portfolio, we have added a new high-performance #Habrok 32 Massive MIMO radio that supports an instantaneous bandwidth of 200MHz. This will enable operators to choose the ideal Massive MIMO solution that best fits their available spectrum assets and deployment needs. We have also launched #Kolibri and all-in-One 5G small cell for indoor and outdoor use cases. #Kolibri products don’t need a separate baseband unit, which enables simplified installations and deployment flexibility. For more details, you may watch the recorded event from the link below:
