With the long weekend kicking off this Friday, it’s important to brush up on your food safety knowledge! Our top summer food tips are: · When shopping buy refrigerated and frozen food last. Transfer food to your fridge or freezer as soon as you get home. · When transporting refrigerated and frozen food always pack them in an insulated bag or esky. · Avoid overloading the fridge as it reduces the cooling efficiency. · Make sure the fridge temperature is set to 5°C or below. · Do not re-freeze food that has thawed. · Store and prepare raw food separate to fresh food. · When eating outdoors, prepare raw meat at home rather than at the location. · Cook chicken and processed meat until the juices run clear. · Avoid preparing too much food as leftovers can go bad quickly in hot weather. #foodsafety #summerfoodtips #salmonella #pathology
