Every six months, I undergo a comprehensive blood test to check various markers—vitamins, minerals, cholesterol levels, and more. This routine measure helps me understand where I am with my health and make small but meaningful lifestyle adjustments if needed. A few years ago, the blood tests picked up that I was pre-diabetic. 🌄 False Summits. Experienced business owners know how to avoid them within their business. But why do they keep falling for them with their health? ⬇️ Experienced business owners know that hitting a certain revenue level or employing staff members often solves one list of problems and creates others. There is no summit. These milestones are not the end of the road, they just mark part of the journey. The aim of business is to keep climbing. To keep playing the game. But when it comes to their health? They fall for false summits all the time. "When we get to the end of this quarter, things will ease up, and I'll be able to get to the gym more regularly." "When we get the next round of hires in, things will ease up, and I'll be able to start thinking about my health a bit more". They know this isn't true. It's a false summit. But, it makes them feel better in the moment and justifies their life being completely out of balance. The reality is that, like business, your health is a game. An infinite one. One that you can't win. As such, the aim of the game is to keep playing. There is no summit to reach. Our aim is to keep climbing. Enjoying the process and the view along the way. This means that we are already playing the game of health. Right now. So instead of waiting for a magical moment that never materializes, we need to start levelling up and learning how to play the game more effectively. Right now. Today. Waiting for a quiet period assumes you will never be busy again! Stop falling for these false summits. You'd never fall for it in your business.
