☀ USE CASE: Tank Monitoring in the Oil Fields ⚡ CHALLENGE: Wirelessly connecting thousands of 250-gallon emulsion tanks that support oil well health to optimize production using #LoRaWAN. Manually monitoring these remote assets previously was cost prohibitive. ✔ SOLUTION: “These tanks used to be checked with dipsticks, but we recently added ‘smart lids'” says Chevron. A single MultiTech Conduit® gateway can support thousands of end points – effectively allowing Chevron to cover the entire valley with just a few gateways. Large Water and Wastewater Utility Migrates from GE MDS 9710/SD9 Network to XetaWave A large metropolitan water and wastewater utility was experiencing failures within its communication system consisting of multiple networks with hundreds of GE MDS 9710/SD9 radios and PLCs. After 3 weeks of diagnosing the problem, they determined the source of the failure was a new SD9 radio. Since the GE MDS SD9 radios were operating in X710 mode, they decided to implement XetaWave radios which are interoperable with MDS radios. In just 10 minutes, they had XetaWave radios operational on their existing network. The end goal is to migrate from their existing legacy X710 serial network to an IP/Ethernet network. Since all XetaWave radios are software defined (SDR), this will simply require the change of a setting within their existing Xeta9 radios with no disruption to the operation of their networks. #XetaWave #X710 #MDSReplacement

With the use case 'Monitoring of Grid Connection Point', the meter reading can be communicated. It is not defined how often the data must be transmitted. The transmission rate depends on the characteristics of the meter. The following empirical formula may help: If the measurement intervals need to be significantly less than one second, faster sub-meters are used. With an SMGW, measurement intervals of only about one second are possible. #SMGW #smartmeter #smartgrid #gridconnection
