The ceasefire is a first step toward ending this war and ensuring security & justice for the people in Gaza. However, for the Palestinians, it doesn’t mark the end of the genocide & ecocide - this is neither a declaration of peace nor a guarantee for justice. We call on all the governments to: 1️⃣Support Gaza’s reconstruction, respecting Palestinian sovereignty 2️⃣Impose embargo on arms, military assistance & spare parts 3️⃣Uphold their obligations under the ICC Read the full statement here 👇 https://lnkd.in/dNpUg3eq 📷 PENGON FOE - Palestine | أصدقاء الأرض- فلسطين

🚨🇨🇩DRC PRESIDENT SNUBS PEACE TALKS AS M23 REBELS SEIZE GOMA Narrative A: The DRC government faces an existential threat from Rwanda-backed M23 rebels who are attempting to seize control of mineral-rich eastern Congo, with extensive UN evidence showing Rwanda's direct military support and de facto control over M23 operations. This constitutes a clear violation of the DRC's sovereignty. Narrative B: Rwanda's military involvement aims to protect its borders and Tutsi populations from armed groups in eastern DRC, particularly the forces created by former perpetrators of the 1994 Rwandan genocide while supporting legitimate grievances of the region's minority Tutsi population through M23.

Since May 31, 1974, Israel and Syria have maintained a disengagement agreement that was signed at the end of the Yom Kippur War, which broke out on October 6, 1973. The agreement, monitored by the UNDOF (United Nations Disengagement Observer Force) - an armed force established based on UN Security Council Resolution 350, is intended to keep peace along the border, defining a demilitarized buffer zone that should be free of military presence except for UN forces serving as international observers. The buffer zone is between the Alpha Line (the border between the countries) and the Bravo Line. During the civil war in the previous decade, the agreement was challenged from time to time. Currently, due to the collapse of the Syrian regime and the rebels taking control, it is once again significantly challenged. In light of these developments, the IDF has deployed temporarily in the buffer zone to preserve it and protect the Israeli border. (Alma center)

The situation in Gaza and Lebanon has reached a critical turning point with Arabs calling openly for their leaders to surrender to Israel. In Gaza, Israel reduced Hamas from an army to regional gangs. Despite this, Sinwar refuses to acknowledge defeat or surrender, leading Israel to intensify its military operations, particularly targeting northern Gaza where any remaining Hamas gangs are being eliminated. In Lebanon, Hezbollah has similarly been weakened. Once a formidable force, it has been reduced to a smaller-scale threat, with southern Lebanon overrun by Israeli tanks. Israel's approach to regional security has shifted dramatically. The country is no longer interested in ceasefires, international resolutions, or diplomatic interventions that it views as ineffective. For Israel it seems the only resolution to these conflicts lies in a clear, decisive victory over Hamas, Hezbollah and ultimately Iran.

Dr. Myriam Francois breaks down the situation in the middle east in 4 very important points: 1. We should not look at israel as a democratic country that adheres to law and order or justice 2. Traditional media has always been and continues to be complicit in whitewashing the lies, propaganda and crimes of israel 3. USA and israel have a much bigger play here with oil and money. Its not just about land. They are both equally complicit in this genocide 4. Other middle eastern countries are next on the list. Why are they mum about this ongoing genocide knowing that fact? My take on point 4: Other middle eastern countries are either too cowardly to react to this, knowing that its going to be their turn next OR the leaders of those countries have already sold the fate of their people to the west; securing some big retirement packages for themselves. It won't be too big of a surprise if the kings of Jordan and KSA suddenly move to some European countries and let israel have its way with the land and its people. I for one, will not be surprised. #freefreepalestine #freepalestine #Palestine #gaza #un #usa #uk #pakistan #saudiarabia #AllEyesOnRafah #Rafah #jordan #southafrica #vivapalestine #france #namibia #uae #Europe #iraq #iran #afghanistan #india #scotland #ireland #piersmorgan
"Israel's investigations of itself yield less than a 1% prosecution rate. However, the prosecution of Palestinians in military courts is over 99%." "I would ask my colleagues very directly, why are we accepting the full dismantling of not only an international order, but a trust in the very institutions that we represent to protect Israel? What are we protecting here?" "Israel does not intend to stop at Palestinian land. It has within its sights parts of Lebanon, the entirety of Jordan, parts of Saudi Arabia. And in the case of Lebanon, they're there already. In the case of Syria, they are there already. What are we waiting for exactly? For there to be some kind of regional response to this?" Dr. Myriam Francois, a brilliant and passionate advocate for Palestinian liberation, talks with Al Jazeera. 🇵🇸 🇱🇧 🕊️

Worth listening to an academic with a sound rational mind….

If you’re making an incursion on someone else’s land, on a sovereign nation, you can’t claim that the citizens of that sovereign nation protesting such incursions are a *threat.* After the fall of the Assad regime, the Israeli military took it upon itself to militarily enter sovereign Syrian territory. With no provocation by Syria whatsoever. Let’s be clear, this is patently illegal under international law. In response to this incursion, Syrians demonstrated against Israeli violation of Syrian sovereignty. One cannot claim self defense, when military activity is transpiring in another sovereign state, that did absolutely nothing to provoke incursion on its territory by a neighboring country. Respect Syrian sovereignty. As always, take your information about Syria first and foremost from Syrians.

➡️ On 27 December, the Houthis targeted their first merchant vessel not accompanied by warships in over a month, the Danish-flagged container ship Santa Ursula, though its operator denied reports of the attack. ➡️ The week saw increased airstrikes and militarisation in the Red Sea, with Israel, US and UK conducting multiple airstrikes on Houthi-controlled territory. ➡️ Militant activity intensified in Somalia and Yemen, with Somalia's Al Shabaab escalating attacks on African Union peacekeeping forces and increasing its use of mortars, while Al Qaeda in Yemen executed 11 individuals accused of spying for Aden-government affiliates. ➡️ Regional peace efforts, including the Ankara Declaration between Ethiopia and Somalia signed on 11 December, appear fragile, as Ethiopia’s attack on Somali troops and Jubaland’s pro-Ethiopian stance cast doubt on the sustainability of political stability in Somalia. 💬 Do you want to know more? ➡️Just a note to share my interview with al-Jazeera English on the ceasefire negotiations between #Lebanon and #Israel. My main point is that an agreement that allows for the unrestrained military intervention of #Israel in #Lebanon will be perceived as a violation of Lebanon's sovereignty and would not effectively count as a ceasefire. 📺Find the full interview below if you are interested.
