🥒 Pickles seem so easy to make, but have you wondered why there aren't tons of pickle companies out there? 🥒 This week on the Food Industry Insider we talk with John Patterson, one of the founders and owners of Pittsburgh Pickle Co. John and his two brothers accidentally fell into the pickle business. They just wanted to make high-quality food for their bar & restaurant and started making pickles just for themselves. Like many smart business owners, they saw an opening in the market and turned their basement pickle operation into a brand you can find all across the country. John is as honest and authentic as they come and he walks us through all the ups and downs of building this company. If you are in the Pittsburgh Area, be sure to go visit their bar & restaurant the BeerHive in the Strip District. If you want to buy their pickles, check their website for local and online retailers. Have you ever considered how getting groceries at the store is similar to the picking and packing process within a warehouse? Well, today's episode dives into the picking and packing processes. Be sure to check it out, and watch for where Casey will dive into these processes this week! #supplychain #warehousing #warehouseprocesses #processimprovement
Owner of Eight Twenty-Eight Consulting LLC | Supply Chain & Process Improvement Advisor & Educator | Podcast Co-Host | Future Doctor of Supply Chain
Two Minute Topics - Episode 44. Today’s topic… WAREHOUSE PROCESSES (Part IV) – Picking & Packing When I go to the grocery store, I try to be as efficient as possible. This means that I take my list, go find the items, snag them off the shelf, and pop them in my cart, and then head to the check-out line. Upon check-out, I bag my groceries based on type and where they go. Fruit? Bag. Snacks? Bag. Frozen items? Bag. This is a similar concept to picking and packing in a warehouse when you think of it. This episode dives into the picking and packing processes. But stay tuned, we'll be breaking this down further this week! Happy #Monday folks! £200+ per month for Different Dog 🤣 (French Bulldog) We recently converted someone from DD into raw in one of our branches. This goes to show that these businesses have no moat whatsoever and that their investors never read ''All revenue is not created equal'' by Bill Guerly. I heard Tuggs's founder on Pet Business Disruptors by Clayton Payne (you should absolutely listen and subscribe to his podcast), that Butternut Box | B Corp outbids everyone on PPC. The customer acquisition costs must far exceed their lifetime customer value. These businesses are not viable without insane amounts of VC funding (look at Hello Fresh stock's performance). I'm surprised none of these have actually folded yet. Their lack of operating leverage is astounding. Am I salty? F#ck yes. I have my lifesavings tied up in my shops, employees, and I pay extortionate business rates to councils, only for VCs to offer free food. General Atlantic, L Catterton, can I short Butternut Box | B Corp please? (please let me know why I'm an idiot in the comments) 👌 https://lnkd.in/eS2HWCAj
