As the keynote speaker, I believe the engagement starts long before the actual event. I don’t like to parachute onto the stage, give my talk, and leave immediately. As fun as this sound, and could be,can relationship be developed in such a way? I don’t think so. Once I’m hired, I regard myself as part of the team and I take an integral part in helping promote it and make it successful. One of the things I love doing is creating pre-videos to encourage attendance and to connect with conference planners, as well as participants. Listening to the minute and a half video clip will give you an insight of what I will be speaking about, and a little bit about me :-). It’s part of creating a relationship that hopefully can last beyond the engagement. That’s always my hope. But we know that hope is not enough. Action is needed.
