Sunnyside Road, Islington is a residential redevelopment project creating 19 one, two and three bedroom apartments on a former brownfield site once home to a vehicle service garage including a locally listed retained Coach House to be converted as part of a later phase. Working alongside Designer London Developments to deliver the site for Islington and Shoreditch Housing Association as a fully affordable development. With construction works progressing well on site, completion is expected late Spring next year. Read about British Land’s redevelopment of a network of semi-derelict streets on the edge of the City of London. The principally commercial scheme is located on the edge of Spitalfields on the border with the City of London and, nearly 10 years after the first planning application was submitted, it is being readied for the first occupiers. Called Blossom Street during planning and now named Norton Folgate, the scheme is a collection of sensitively and painstakingly restored Georgian, Victorian and Edwardian buildings with a couple of new-build, medium-rise blocks set back from the street edge at the northern end of the site next to the railway lines running into Liverpool Street station. Building's Thomas Lane talked to architect Paul Monaghan, a partner in Allford Hall Monaghan Morris who masterplanned the scheme, about the challenges the project faced and the team's efforts preserve as much of the historic fabric of the buildings as possible. What's Happening in #Tampa / #StPete: Plans for a mixed-use tower overlooking Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park in downtown Tampa are moving forward! TLR Group has revised its vision for the project at 601 N. Ashley Drive. The updated plans now feature 600 apartments (an increase from 480), 46,000 square feet of office space (previously 68,000 square feet), and 11,000 square feet of retail space (down from 12,000 square feet). The tower is set to rise 48 stories, up from the originally planned 43 stories! Key players in the project include Coastal Construction Company as the general contractor and Arquitectonica as the architect. Matthew Femal of Kimley-Horn is overseeing civil engineering, with TLC Engineering Inc. handling mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design. Thornton Tomasetti is the structural engineer, Walker Consultants is managing parking design, and DH Griffin is tasked with demolishing the existing 12-story office tower on the site. Project Update | Façade Unveiling at 161 Eastern Road We have recently unwrapped the stunning façade at 161 Eastern Road, a milestone the team has worked tirelessly towards. Our client and architect have been actively involved, particularly through the sample approval process, ensuring that every detail met their vision and standards. One of the standout features of this project is the curved balcony precast. Getting the curves just right required a few prototypes, but the results speak for themselves. Thanks to our collaboration with Visibuild and our dedicated subcontractors, we’ve set a high standard throughout the project. The sequence of works played a crucial role in the successful execution of the balcony panels. Poured in with the slab, these panels had to be meticulously landed on the deck before each pour. Managing double height formwork areas and jumping the perimeter scaffold the day after the pour were essential to keep the project moving forward safely and efficiently. One key lesson we've learned is the importance of sequence, sequence, sequence! From completing inspections at supplier yards to the meticulous planning and execution on site, every step has been crucial to our progress. We couldn't be prouder of the hard work and dedication of our team at 161 Eastern Road.
