#OFC25 throwback: On the topic of blending revenue streams, in our partner session at The Oxford Farming Conference (OFC) we were joined by Nestlé Regeneration Lead for the UK and Ireland, Matt Ryan, who spoke to delegates about the achievements of the Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs Company Ltd) investment programme and its future development. LENs has been designed to bring together different sectors involved in landscape management and resilience, helping to consolidate shared goals and encourage collaboration between farmers and suppliers to agree coherent objectives. To date there are over 120 farms involved across the East of England and Yorkshire, with Frontier a proud partner of the project. Matt updated delegates on how the project is evolving, with new pathways being introduced which are designed to integrate more with public sector schemes. One such example is the Resilience Payment, with farmers achieving a premium per hectare as a reward for positive performance even for actions achieved through some government schemes. Big news in the agriculture sector! 🌱 Co-op has launched an £820k sustainability fund to support British farmers in reducing carbon emissions and promoting nature on their farms. This initiative reflects Co-op's ongoing commitment to UK agriculture and sustainability. The £820,000 will be split between two key projects, directly rewarding farmers for their sustainable practices. Highlights of the initiative: - ✅ Dairy Sector: Partnering with Soil Association Exchange to support 140 farmers. - ✅ Sustainability payments and advisory support focusing on reducing fertiliser use, increasing fuel efficiency, and investing in solar energy. - ✅ Beef and Lamb Sectors: Extending the beef sustainability scheme, now including lamb farmers. - ✅ Expected savings of over 100,000 tonnes of carbon over five years. Matt Hood, Managing Director of Co-op, emphasised the importance of backing UK agriculture, especially during these challenging times. It's commendable to see major retailers stepping up to support farmers in achieving sustainability goals. #Sustainability #Agriculture #BritishFarming

In the wake of the recent budget announcement, the challenges facing UK agriculture are clearer than ever. Defra’s funding has remained stagnant in real terms since 2014, raising questions about the department’s capacity to deliver on the ambitious goals of the Agricultural Transition Plan (2021–2028). Compounding this is a persistent disconnect between policymakers and farmers, with many land managers feeling excluded from meaningful collaboration on schemes that directly impact their livelihoods. This moment demands a renewed focus on outcomes and stronger partnerships. How can we ensure that policies are not only well-intentioned but also practical and impactful, fostering trust and driving real change across the sector? Have a quick read and let me know if you agree with the NAO Report. #change #outcomes #policy #futurefarming #defra https://lnkd.in/eEcY8rD8

Canadian agriculture is at a crossroads—and we’re being sidelined. Despite being a global leader in sustainability and climate-positive farming, Canadian agriculture is still the forgotten stepchild in national policy discussions. We produce, innovate, and sequester, carbon like no one else, yet it feels like we’re constantly battling for recognition. With legislation like Bill C-293 threatening to limit agricultural activities in the name of pandemic preparedness, it’s clear that ill-informed policy is our greatest risk right now. The U.S. is racing ahead while we’re stuck playing defense. The truth is, Canada’s agriculture industry is critical to our economy, our environment, and our future, and it’s time we start acting like it. So, what will it take for Canadian ag to get the attention it deserves? We don’t need another white paper—we need action. https://loom.ly/RqlaCFU #FarmLeadership #AgPolicy #CdnAg #Sustainability
