The European Council and European Parliament have now formally adopted changes to the #GasDirective and #GasRegulation, establishing common EU rules on how methane and hydrogen markets should be organised. 🌟 During the legislative process, Frontier has been active in advising a range of clients on the potential options for reform and their potential impacts. We outline key changes to legislation and four studies, on which Frontier either led or played a major role for the Commission. ⚡ 📌 Click here to read the full article https://okt.to/N3yx06 #EuropeanUnion #EU #EnergyPolicy

This week, I spoke to RT about the incoherence of the EU's current energy policy. I argued that, by increasing its reliance on LNG from the United States, the EU is undermining its economy, energy security and environment in one fell swoop. https://lnkd.in/e9dWw5mT
On RT, Dimitri Lascaris breaks down the EU's incoherent energy policy

#EU citizens are heading to the polls to elect their MEPs. In recent years, EU member states have witnessed a right-wing resurgence, with populist and nationalist parties gaining political influence in many countries, while six have hard-right parties in government. This shift to the right has been driven by the cost-of-living crisis and concerns over #Europe's industrial competitiveness, raising the question of how much the new parliament will try to influence energy policy and, to an extent, backtrack on #climate commitments. This past week has been all about the European Union so here's something you might have missed to come out of Brussels. One of the last things the outgoing European Parliament did was adopt the first-ever EU regulation on methane emissions. The new regulation obliges the fossil gas, oil and coal industry in Europe to measure, monitor, report and verify their methane emissions, and to take action to reduce them. Drone-based methane detection helps companies to identify methane leaks much quicker and cover large areas at a lower cost. The SPH Engineering Laser Falcon methane detector kit can be helpful in identifying potential methane leaks which can then be examined and evaluated up close. As this is now law and not just a suggestion, I'm sure we will see more care towards CH4 emissions monitoring here in Europe.
